Kearse was done regardless.

They gave up a 2nd for a very talented player that fills a need and gives flexibility going forward.

If he takes a big contract elsewhere next year after a good season, then Seattle could be looking at a favorable compensation pick or at least a benefit in the formula. They very well could have a 3rd rounder coming back.

Good for depth, good for skill set brought, etc

the good for Seattle: a very talented defensive lineman who provides inside pressure. Their defense pretty much runs on rushing 4, dropping 7 and making you go 10 plays down the field to score a td

the bad: add a volatile personality to a room with plenty of that to spare. It all great when you win -- but when you lose, it tends to speed the downfall

There may be 1-2 more trades to come or another move of some sort

They restructured Baldwin to free up extra space today - space they didn't need for this move

They also moved a late pick to the Pats for CB Justin Coleman today

Good move by Seahawks - I think they are gunning for another Superbowl before their backend ages too much.

They very well could be.

I will say this, they will have to figure out how to stop the Cardinals pass rush, because last year, we owned that team's offense.

Behind you
Those of you talking about his 'bad attitude'
He was SICK OF LOSING! He was sick of playing for a franchise that didn't show they wanted to win.
They had 1 winning season and he was lights out on and off the field
You too would get upset if you worked every year to win a ring and management fills the rest of the team with sub-par players and a qb that ASU wouldn't take.
IMO he had ever right to be disgruntled.
He's a beast on the field...and Seattle gave up NOTHING in return that hurts them this season. It's a GREAT 1 year rental! Again GREAT RENTAL!
They'll get the entire $4 mill back to their books when/if he goes + they'll get a comp pick for him... + they get a great player....now you haters....how again was it a bad move?

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

Sheldon Richardson had opportunities to be traded previously, but would not redo his contract. Now, he gets full $8M & play in Seahawks D

This was a steal for the Seahawks, forget the draft picks, they basically are moving back one round. You have to look at it as a late 2nd round pick to move back in the late 3rd when they get a comp pick which they will. He is going to play on the interior of the D, exactly what we needed here. He is a DT not OLB

There front 7 will look like this
Bennett S Richardson J Reed C Avril
M Wilhoite B Wagner KJ Wright

Thats a scary front 7! That D-line may be the nastiest in the NFL.

When you have the #1 Defense year after year you can afford to be cheaper on the offensive side. I mean, the Broncos won with a broken Manning and a historically good D, much like the type Seattle puts on the field, year after year.

Hate on them all you want but the move was a very good one by Seattle.
They may eat our lunch this year.
