I say yes, I think he may be the best player the Cardinals have ever had and also may have been the best corner in football in his prime.

After his first couple of years where he had alot of interceptions teams just stopped passing his way! I think Deon got passed on a lot more than him, some of it may have been baiting but I think it accounts for him getting more interceptions...what do you guys think?

My favorite corner is Darrell Green.

Playing opposite him is Aeneas Williams.

It works on the field, it can work in my head!

I just noticed he was on the NFL 1990's All-Decade Team, so he's considered one of the top 4 corners of the 90's by the voters of the pro football hall of fame.

Another thing he had over Sanders is he was a great tackler and came up to tackle running backs and sack qb's. He was the one who ended Steve Young's carreer if you recalled.

Who voted no, and why by the way?

I just checked, Aeneas actually had more interceptions than Sanders! 55 to 53!

As for Darryll Green and Sanders...I would take Williams tackling anyday...

Also, Williams had more defensive touchdowns than Sanders!

He tied Sanders with 9 interceptions for touchdowns, but also has 3 fumbles returned for touchdowns... As for Sanders, well he had four fumbles for 15 yards :bigyawn:

I assumed Sanders would have had better stats than Williams because of his baiting ways and his risk taking where Williams was a much better sure tackler but I guess I was wrong.

Williams also has more interceptions than Green and more interceptions for touchdowns, and fumbles returned for touchdowns.

I'm thinking Williams has to hold the record in most of these areas.

I think he should be in. But, I'm kind of disgusted with the HOF lately and think he'll have a hard time making it. Dan Hampton getting in was a complete joke and Art Monk still not being in is a travesty. Deion is a slam dunk, Aeneas is not. Hope I'm wrong.

I take that back, it looks like Rod Woodson holds many of the records. Still think Williams is more of a shut down corner though.

Well if they are looking at the numbers like they do in baseball I would think he would be in for sure. Most of his numbers look better than Sanders except for the returns of course.

Absolutely!

Troy Aikman said a couple years ago that Aeneas was the best all-around CB he played against. That says a lot right there.

Does he have the hype and self-promotion of Sanders? NO! But to me he is no question the better all around player.

CB's in the HOF? Too many forget Roger Wherli. He had to play Bob Hayes (former Olympic 100M champion) twice a year. Roger Staubach said the Wherli was as good as anyone he faced. It may be a case of reverse prejudice; white boys can't play CB . . .

I would like to see Williams in too, but I would call it a toss up to say who the better player was.

Aeneas Williams should definitely be in the HOF! That is a no brainer. Whether it happens or not is another story!

I voted a definate YES! Aeneas is my favorite Cardinal player all time, and I have been a fan for 30 years. I have had the Dieon vs Williams argument so many times, and I am glad to see most on here agree that Williams was a better all around corner than Sanders.

The truth is, they should both get in.

Will AW even get a spot in the "Ring of Honor"?

He's the one player I can think of who is deserving that played for the Cardinals only in Arizona.

I can't believe there is even six no's. Some of us are wondering if Aeneas Williams is the best corner in the modern Era and others are debating if he should even get in? Isn't that kind of a big jump down? I would think he shouldn't even need to be the best to get in.

WTF, Art Monk isn't in? I just assumed he was. He was one of the best recievers in the league when he played.

AW is definitely a hall of famer. It shouldn't even be a debate.

He is probably the best player the Cardinals ever had in Arizona. However that is debateable when you take in the St Louis years. I hate that he left the team the way he did. He kinda did the Cards dirty I thought. I was glad he didn't get a SB ring either.

I really don't remember how he left, but I sure remember how he played his heart out for this team during some lousy Cardinal years.

Didn't want him to get a Superbowl ring?? Nice, really nice, your a real class act. Once the Cards were out of it (which was probably around about week 8) I was cheering for the guy to go all the way. If I remember correctly he had a big part of them even making it due to a couple ints for TDs in the playoffs.

Well did he say anything that wasn't true? Could be that Aeneas voice was added to those Michael Bidwill heard badmouthing his father, Mr. B, that prompted MB to return to Arizona and start the turnaround we enjoyed last Sunday. So you could credit AW with helping the Q and MB in righting a ship that had been floundering in the desert for almost 20 years.

At least AW didn't snub the Cardinals at the NFL HOFame ceremony like an unnamed soon to be added to the "Ring of Honor" player did.

Don't take it personal. I admit it. I got satisfaction out of the fact that the scrams got beat in the SB that year. I didn't think they were that great of a team and they got real lucky just barely beating the Titans the year before I think it was. The fact that he left the Cards like he did and then went to St Louis chapped my ass. It has also has to do with St Louis running my Cards out of town back in 1988. I am still sad and bitter toward the powers that be in St Louis for that. If AW had gone on to any other team besides the one in St Louis I probably wouldn't feel the contempt I have toward him that I do. It is a multi-faceted thing with me.

Exactly!! I think his whole thing was he would rather retire healthy, or go to a team close to winning something and play on a few more years. I'm sorry, but I cannot blame him for that, and I certainly don't have ill feeling towards him for those comments.
