Word on the Internets is that Best Buy stores will have 30-50 units each for sale starting Sunday morning.

Finally got mine.

For those in the Valley, the Best Buy across the street from Fiesta Mall in Mesa still has about 10 left (all are the premium $400 set, sorry no $300 core systems) ... just FYI

Hey I was reading that Microsoft is re-doing the architechture of the 360 and re-releasing it in January. I guess they solved the overheating CPU and are making the power supply smaller. I don't have a 360 so I am not aware of these issues. It kind of sucks for those who have already purchased one, I understand the processor will be faster

There wasn't a huge overheating issue with the CPU. There were some units that overheating but nothing that impacted the majority of 360 owners.

The main reason for the change is the CPU is to save money. Every console does that after it comes out. Since chip production is moving from the 90 nanometer process to the 65 nanometer process, it makes sense to redisign the insides of the 360 to make things cheaper to produce. That's nothing new.

The processor will not be faster at all. The only difference is that because of switching to the smaller die, it will run more effecient (less heat and use less power). However, the end user will see no difference in the system.
