Should NFL awards be handed out after the Super Bowl?

I've always thought MVP, Rookie of the year, Coach of the year etc should be handed out after the Super Bowl/

Would Whisenhunt get consideration now?

How about DRC for Defensive Rookie of the year?

How about Joe Flacco for Offensive Rookie of the year?

Would Peyton Manning still be the MVP after losing in the first round?

No. Because the awards are based on what you do during the regular season not the playoffs. I like it that way.

They are regular season awards, the post season does not count towards them. Hence why they award Championship MVP/ Super Bowl MVP. Moreover this is why they do voting before the playoffs so not to sway voters

How about DRC for Defensive Rookie of the year? Not over Mayo.

How about Joe Flacco for Offensive Rookie of the year? He's only been average at best in his games. That defense is carrying them like always.

No. About the only one of the 4 that wasn't the right choice IMO.

What I really detest is having the pro-bowl rosters announced before the season is over. Makes the rosters that much less meaningful. The other awards I have no problem with. They're for the regular season, not the playoffs.

MVP is NFL MVP and the NFL is still playing, it doesn't say anywhere NFL Regular Season MVP Award...it simply says NFL MVP...same goes for all the other awards.

I dont think Ive ever watched a Pro Bowl game. I cant think of a more meaningless game in sports. Its a team game where it takes months if not years for teammates to gel and become a working machine.

It's far more interesting in terms of making the roster being an award than it is as a game. The all-pro awards are so limited, being down to 1 or 2 guys per position. I'd like to see the pro bowl selections be more meaningful just to serve that purpose.

They could cancel the game entirely and I wouldn't care or notice.

Since the NFL doesnt even sanction any of those awards I dont find any of those awards all that meaningful anymore. they are AP awards and an AP awards alone that the NFL doesnt even recognize. Voted on by 50 AP writers who are scatter brained morons.

As for DRC I would have given him a lot more consideration then he did over Mayo. DRC lead all rookies in INT's, INT's for TD's, and passes defensed all while not being the starter for half the season. He had so many passes defensed he wasnt only the leader of the rookies he was top 10 in the whole NFL.

That Defensive rookie award has turned into "who has the most tackles" award. No mention of sacks, ints, Passes defensed, tackles for loss, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, and so on. You know game changing plays. Of Which Mayo had zero sacks, zero ints, 4 PD's, only 2 tackles for loss (McCinnon racked up the tackles 10 yards down field syndrome), only 1 FF, and ZERO FR's.
