If we were all dealt with based on the worst possible outcomes of our mistakes then I expect most of us would be unemployed, dead or in jail.

Unemployed or dead, quite possibly. In jail, I don't think so, or at least not justly. I'm hardly an angel, but I don't think I've committed an incarceratable offense.

Edit: And, again, we're not talking about whether I should be paid millions of dollars a year to be a public figure.

Some, not most. There are certainly as many people, if not more, who are not prone to highs and lows. Not victims of substance abuse. Most people are not unemployed, dead or in jail, even as an exaggeration.

I like the hustle and defense PJ brings to the team, but he has problems and the Suns are hopefully dealing with them.

'Missed the team bus because he couldn't figure out the difference between AM and PM? C'mon. Not with a history of being under the influence of alcohol.

Not killing someone doesn't play down his lack of discretion. He obviously has problems which go beyond learning at this point and involve personality traits.

Again, I hope the Suns are keeping a close eye on his off-court behavior now that he has put himself in this position. They would be fools not to. Most importantly for his own good.

Missing a team bus a couple times hardly hints at alcohol involvement. Maybe the guy likes to sleep? Or maybe he was getting his knob polished? The only people who need to be concerned if at all, would be the Suns. Its really not for us to speculate.

I agree, but come on, if you had committed an extreme DUI and wanted to try to redeem your reputation, wouldn't you be absolutely sure to do things like show up to work on time? His poor behavior is a constant insult to the organization and its supporters.

This true. I would agree with this statement. Even tardiness would be viewed as a distraction. What I disagree with is continuing rub his nose in the fact he made one mistake of DUI. If it becomes a trend, then I'll be the first to kick his butt out the door.

He made one mistake of getting caught DUI.

Hopefully, the Suns are on top of how many times it has occurred without getting caught.

And, more specifically, getting him the help he may need before he injures or kills someone. A fan wanting to kick his butt out the door will be the least of his problems.

Public figure or not, its still his livelihood. I'm not even remotely condoning his actions, no one should drink and drive, I fully support the states harsh DUI laws. But the guy got caught, he served the same sentence everyone else gets for the crime and hopefully is making the right choices to move forward.

And you say "at least not justly" would you be dead or imprisoned, I agree, I'd put myself in the same category. However, I said judged "the worst possible outcome for mistakes" in response to you saying "would you feel the same way if he killed someone?". Which obviously, no, I wouldn't, if he'd killed or maimed someone then he'd deserve whatever fate the state gave him. But viewing it as though he'd killed someone when he committed a far lesser offense is not "just".

We are back to the Tucker DUI case I see. The discussion was quite lively as I recall. I hope it does not get so intense this time. ;)

However, Tucker was found guilty and life went on. My stance back then was let the criminal justice system resolve the problem. I still feel the same way. Tucker was clearly intoxicated and he was punished for the offense by serving jail time and being suspended from the NBA. The Suns chose to sign Tucker to a multi-year contract. It was their decision. As Phrazbit points out, I don't a person should be viewed as guilty of another crime that was never committed based on what could have happened.

We don't do that but perhaps it's time we did. Driving while impaired, and I would include Facebooking and texting in this, should be dealt with far harsher than it is. We shouldn't have to let them kill someone before we put a stop to their behavior. I'm talking about the future, not looking back on Tucker's case.

It sort of sounds like the movie, Minority Report. I'm not ready for that unless you are really good at it. :)

I do think texting and such has the potential to be just as dangerous as drinking and driving. Plus I bet a lot of it is never caught. It scares me when I see people driving in traffic not watching the road.

His level of DUI was a felony, so if he'd gone to jail for it, that would have been just. I meant that I could be wrongly convicted of something. I haven't done anything for which the outcome could have made me legally guilty of a felony.

But, I take your point that law-breakers deserve a chance to make a living, and that this is the job for which Tucker is best qualified. I admit that I hadn't thought of it that way. If we can give actual felons second chances to contribute to society, we can give almost-felons the same courtesy. Just like I wouldn't want a registered sex offender living in my neighborhood, neither do I want an alcoholic driver on the basketball team I root for. But, fair is fair, and so long as he can manage to keep himself out of further legal trouble, I should lay off of him. I find his flaunting of team rules arrogant and disrespectful, but arrogance and disrespect aren't exactly rare traits among NBA players.

Yeah, I'm not trying to defend his tardiness or the DUI. You'd think that a guy who had to work his way so hard to make it back into the league would have more respect for his position.

My issue was the "what if he'd killed someone", yeah, DUIs can end in a vehicular homicide, his didn't so he should not be viewed as such. I know I did some dumb stuff in my early 20s, not DUIs, more speeding but still something that 'worst case' I could have killed myself or others, it was dangerous and stupid, but, thankfully, I didn't hurt myself or anyone else. Tucker didn't kill anyone, neither did I. He got a DUI, he did go to jail (I think 3 days is the minimum for his offense), I got a fat ticket and had to go to driving school. Punishment served.

I agree, all these things should be illegal, but you can't treat someone who is guilty of misdemeanor or a traffic violation as though they're a murderer. Our jails are crowded enough without adding the just plain "irresponsible" to the "criminally irresponsible".

For the rest of the season? Knight plays the Thomas roll. For the future? Bledsoe is traded as part of a package for a legit big and Knight takes over.

Knight said yesterday he doesn't care about coming off bench since current starting lineup is on such a roll.

The biggest reason to have Knight as backup PG is no more AJ Price

Knight and Bledsoe should both be available this summer. But then, most players are, even if it is not publicized.

Can't trade Knight unless its sign and trade which would be a PR turd.

Not to mention we wouldn't really get anything.

Yeah, this front office's infatuation with acquiring "assets" that are of value only to the Suns is getting frustrating. It's like trying to peddle your five-year-old's crayon drawings for big bucks because you personally find them adorable.

I with I could talk to you from mid 2013 and ask what you expected the team to look like roughly 2 years later. I feel like they'd be obliterating your expectations, both in terms of results and "assets".

Knight wouldn't land much in a trade because he is an RFA, not because he is "only" valuable to us. Even Thomas, who epitomized the supposed obsession with guys who "only the Suns" value, was promptly flipped for a 1st round pick.

Yea we had 3 first round picks in the last draft and despite so much hype around those picks being used to land a superstar or move up in the draft, neither happened. As a matter of fact, McD himself said he didn't want to use to use all 3 picks and would try to trade them for future pick and yet nobody even wanted to trade a future 1st rd pick for any of those picks.

Our "highly valued" asset signing of IT ended up netting us a dysfunctional team with too many PGs and a 1st round pick with very little value.

The strategy is sound. The execution? Not so much.

Not unless it gets you something you want. There is no reason why a sign and trade cannot be a really worthwhile option with the salary cap increases coming.

I voted other, that the Suns should start Bledsoe, Knight, the Morris twins and Len with Tucker as the 6th man off the bench. I simply think the twins play better together. It's a difficult call because Tucker has been carrying the Suns but I would play him near starter minutes.

Far more important than who starts is who finishes with the game on the line.

The lineup you propose, with the exception of Len, is pretty much who finishes. And, for most of the season, it hasn't even been included Tucker.

It doesn't put fear into our opponents.
