No, I'd rather have Smith for one rather than Eddie for 3, maybe 2, years. It'll clear the shelf faster to get a young RB to go with Shipp.

I'm pretty sure I'm right there with ya.

He's intriguing though. Has never missed a game, only fumbled once last year (and recovered it), can catch out of the backfield, has Tommie Frazier's Heisman...

He isn't much of a ypc guy though. Doesn't break long ones. But he's a first down, move the chains guy extraordinaire.

I dunno.

The only problem I have with getting George is then we would have Smith, George, and Shipp. That seems to be too many quality RB's?

If he came cheap, and for only a year or two, I'd consider it. He's old, but he's still a bull.

Doesn't really matter though, what we NEED is a burner who can get to the outside or break a long run on a screen.

Yes, we should pursue Eddie George if he's carrying the ball against us, then once we catch him, we should tackle him, then when he's on the bottom of the pile, twist his foot a little.

I think in general I'm against signing veteran running backs. It seems like the best bang for the buck value is drafting them. Travis Henry for example is going to get a boatload of cash from somebody, but I don't think he'll be worth it at that point. Same with a guy like Edgerrin James, he's great now, but who's going to pony up silly cash for somebody with that much mileage?

I say draft them if you want the most mileage for your money.

No way. Not at all a fit for DGs offense and doesn't give you anything you don't already have (toughness, leadership) in Emmitt Smith. No chance.

Id rather have a blind and deaf shipp over George at this point. But no doubt he was a great back for about 2 years.

I agree that he's not a good fit for our offense, it would seem.

Is George better than Shipp at this point?

Is George better than Smith at this point?

If you answer yes to both, then he should be given a look. If you answer yes to either one (but especially Smith) then he should be brought in.

IMO, George right now is better than either RB we have. Maybe that is living in the past with him I don't know but I think he is still better than either of our top 2 RB's right now.

having said all that, the Cards will not be bringing him in and I still maintain, that Anderson (if back 100%) can press Shipp and Smith.

Who cares? George already has said he wants to go a winning situation and I'm pretty sure we don't fit into that category. The "which RB should we draft next year" arguments are much more entertaining and way more relevant, even if the draft is a lot of football away.

I said that I like Anderson better than either of them on 1060 to Kemp on Friday.
He laughed at me. Again. That rat bastard.

I think George is someone who needs the get the ball a lot in order to be effective. He's a big guy who makes the defense get tired before he does, we need someone who can produce with limited carries.

If George is over the hill than Emmitt is post mordem. Eddie is still good but he won't come here.

Eddie is better than Emmitt IMO, but he's not a good fit for this offense, so there's no point in bringing him in. George is a power back, who need carries in order to be efficient.

Rotfl, damn 11, he's slapped you in the face, not once but twice, and perhaps soon, thrice. How long can you sustain these personal affronts? You need to find a way to get Kemp, and get him good. Perhaps an atomic wedgie, or a rough noogie is in order.....

If George were suddenly on our team, I'd be intrigued, and would definitely enjoy his success since I think he's a quality guy. However, I'd be extremely concerned that an underperforming O-line would turn him into a repeat of last year's Emmitt. It's not even George's skills that I'm concerned about, but he's the one with the price tag.

Now THAT'S funny!

We'd end up with 2 running backs that used to be great, and one that still has a lot to prove.

George is better than what we have now but he is almost finished and I prefer to wait for a younger guy.

Assuming we play the team he winds up on, our defense had better pursue him.
