lets not get too crazy, we may have cap space next year but i believe keeping current stars and extending current ones is much more important than a new FA. if hes asking too much, we dont need him. edge got alot of cash for being in his prime, you throw another huge contract out and well have issues with our budding stars down the road wanting huge dollars too

Too expensive and on the downside of his career. You don't pay a FS that much money.

what exactly is his asking price?

Ty Law, who at age 32 is coming off a career-best, 10-interception season and is reportedly asking for an $8 million-$10 million signing bonus and a long-term, very substantial contract.

Lets say we give him 8 mil over 4 years, and a Vet min salary of 750k.

8mil / 4 + 750k = 2.75 cap hit

If we use Joeshmo's available cap space of $3.77mil, that sill leaves $1.2mil available for injuries

I think thats a fairly reasonable price to pay to solidify our secondary.

Gosh it sure would be nice to spend to the cap for once and grab that extra extra guy who could help us out. Besides who do we really have to worry about resigning? Davis is the only player on the list even REMOTELY worth worrying about, and even then I don't think he couldn't be replaced.

I can't bring myself to voting in the poll. If he really wants to be here then I say make him our best offer. That might require a creative contract or extending Big so he frees up money now. What are the time frames for extending a player to free up cap space?

He's definitely a player worthy of pursuing, but I would hate to find out he's playing us as a bargaining tool for someone else. If we offer him big money and he goes somewhere else then it sets the stage for others with big demands.
