sly fly -

The fact that Tim Duncan, the 2-time NBA MVP, doesn't seem to want Kidd there speaks volumes.

Say what you want about character, or the Joumana factor, but it really does matter. San Antonio players are seemingly good guys.

I do not think the San Antonio players, or management, want the Jason Kidd Circus to come to town.

They need a big body to replace Robinson and eventually Willis.

Why bother if Joumana is going to veto it anyway? What do you think, Jason will just hit her upside the head and tell her they are going to San Antonio? Basketball or not, Joumana matters to Jason Kidd. He's whipped. If she says stay, he'll stay.

Sly Fly,

I actually agree with you on Kidd.

The Spurs could probably get a very good player or draft pick from the Clippers or Golden State for Parker.

Duncan is in his prime now. Kidd is in his prime now. You sign Kidd and trade Parker to get your big man filler and probably win two more titles with that team.

Uh, Jason Kidd beats his wife. I'd hardly call that whipped. And if you think that ended the night of the 911 call, I've got a ocean front property in Yuma to sell you.

Joumana, while an annoying, manipulative b*tch is getting too much credit here from you guys.

You all are actually making good points about the JKidd situation.

I just think SA is better with Duncan, Kidd, Parker and whomever. Versus Duncan, Parker, whomever and whomever.

I don't Kidd's age should be a question. He's got 5 good years left before he starts tailing off. The good ones (re: Stockton) find ways to adjust.

Ok, Joumana has input (don't go there :p). But, let's face it... she isn't the bread winner. At some point, JKidd needs to break the news to her that she ain't really good at what she does. I don't see a reporters role at PrimeTime Live anytime soon.

I know one thing. If he does leave, NJ is going to be reeling like no other. It would be best to keep Rod Thorn away from anything sharp.

I think the Nets would be better if Kidd left and they signed Gary Payton. GP could run that team a lot better than Kidd and is a legitimate scoring option also.

basketball wise it wouldnt even matter who they got. If JKidd left, who knows if the franchise would even survive in NJ. I mean really, don't they have one of the worst attendence records of the league? Take away their star player and there will be nothing. Not only that, but they wouldnt even be able to claim they had gotton the best of the trade anymore.

Sure they have RJ and KMart, but both of them are still pretty inexperienced. RJ dissapeared in the beginning of the finals, Kenyon at the end. Kenyon wasnt even that impressive till after the all star game, so who knows if it was just a 1 time showing of his skills.

Plus they have to have the albatross around their neck (deke's contract) for like another 2 years.

I don't see how Kidd would help the Spurs much. What they need from their PG is someone who can bring energy and hit a few shots. Kidd brings energy, but mainly in the half-court game, and no team with Duncan is going to go out of their way to run.

Kidd had talented teammates in Phoenix, and he has talented teammates in New Jersey. His teams have never done well in the playoffs against tough competition. Is Kidd going to elevate the play of Bruce Bowen, Manu Ginobili, Malik Rose? Of course not.

The Spurs don't need him.

After watching the playoffs I'd say the Spurs would be better off making sure they retain Claxton than worry about signing Kidd. Speedy stepped up big when Parker had trouble - what more do you want? Of course, they need to replace Robinson but they don't need an All-Star. Brad Miller is the standout choice, IMO. They're going to need lots of bucks to keep their young guys in a year or two - Genobili, Jackson and Parker. In fact I expect them to have to shell out around 4-5 mil to keep Claxton.
