He's apparently on the block. He's 26. He's arguably the best non QB offensive player in the nfl when healthy.

I'm torn, because I think we could be a much better, more consistent team with a reliable running game...but we have other holes. His cap hit doesn't bother me because he's worth it as a RB1 and WR2.

not worth the draft picks or $. I feel bad for the kid because he’s really good, just can’t stay healthy.

It amazes me how many people draft him#1 in FF every year…

Really big contract... Injured a lot... AND we’d have to blow at least a first round pick on him? Sounds like a Keim Wet Dream Acquisition!

No...

Well, maybe.

His contract wouldn't be that much considering he already got paid a bunch of the guaranteed money. The Panthers would take a big cap hit which is why they want a 1st for him.

$18m dead cap this year, $13m next year and $7m the year after.

I believe the trading team would be taking on $8.4m this year then $12m per year for the next 3 years. There would also be no dead money if you cut him in a couple of years. Not a lot of money for a guy who probably the best flex RB in the league.

Obviously health is the key. He's missed much of the last 2 seasons so it's a big gamble and that has to factor in to the trade. Are you getting a Ferrari in peak condition or one that looks good but the engine is shot?

The no is because the Cards just aren't in the right place for this kind of deal. This is the kind of deal a contender would do that has a hole at RB/slot receiver. Chiefs maybe. Or Bucs if they had any cap space. Or even the Rams if they had the space.

But I think a 1st is ambitious with his injuries. Maybe a 2nd and a 3rd is more realistic.

Outside receiver is a bigger need than a slot guy, IMO. If Rondale wasn’t on the roster, sure.

For the right price, yep. You have to weigh him having a fluke healthy game changing season vs whichever draft pick having a game changing impact over the course of their rookie deal. Not sure which scenario is more likely. I also think Keim wants to pair a dynamic RB with Kyler based on the likelihood of him drafting Najee Harris had Collins been taken before our pick.

If I'm going to take a chance on a talented RB with bounce-back potential then Saquon Barkley is my choice. One year left on his deal at $7.2m, which could be split over two years for Cap purposes. If things turn out well, we can consider a longer-term deal and if not, no great loss.

Agreed. A lot less miles on him too.

Yes. This is the correct answer.

I imagine he'd stay healthy if he was on a team that had enough self control to not make him the entire offense.

If we could get him for a conditional third...and he signs an extension to greatly lower his cap implications.

Sure... 8 games is 8 games

I kind of agree that Barkley might be a better gamble. I think McCaffrey is a stud, but I'm not sure if I would spend our 1st on any RB

I don't know. McCaffery still looks good when he's actually healthy. Barkley's performance last season makes me worry his injuries have had a permanent impact on him.
