Should we give some of our key starters (Nash) a full week off?

I'm pretty sure with the Clippers loss we have won the division correct? Why don't we give Nash and maybe Marion, James Jones etc... a week off? I know with working out they always say you do much better if you get a week off every 8 weeks. It gives your body time to rest and get reenergized. I've read it revolutionized body building and how people worked out when workout warriors took that time off. Muscle mass and endurance and body composition went way up with that one week off. Your body needs rest to work at its optimum level.

I would think our fitness experts on the Suns would know this though. If we give them one week off they will still have one week to get back in a groove. I think our players look tired right now and could use the rest. Even Marion has been complaining about being really tired. What do you guys think?

I'd be in favor of cutting their minutes back, but they need to keep playing. So much of the offense depends on timing and knowing where people are going to be. The defense is awful right now, but let's not compound that by getting the offense out of sync as well.

I guess so, I was just hoping a week of play before playoffs would be enough to get back in synch. I just remember my fitness director and books that I've read that a full week off is what is really needed to be in optimum form. Even just light jogging during the week can somewhat hurt that. I think our guys are pretty in tune to what they need to do.

Did we technically clinch the division tonight? If we lost the rest of our games and the clippers won the rest we'd be tied. We also tied in the season series. How do the tiebreakers work? Not that it's an issue, just kinda wondering.

I saw an article somewhere that said the next tiebreaker is division record. The Suns have that locked up over the Clippers, so they have clinched the division.

I wouldn't go rest the players TOO much, look what happened to the Colts...


Nash and Marion deserve a few less minutes, maybe give some more minutes to Grant and cut Diaw's a little... but they shouldn't go overboard.

I second it. Give Nash a week's rest. Reduce Marion, Bell, and Diaw's minutes a bit. Give Grant and Burke some playing time to get into game shape for the playoff run.
Just checked out the schedule. Let Nash rest for 3 games and come back for the last 3 of the season with reduced minutes. And we could let Barbosa, TT get more isolation situations to hopefully boost their confidence a bit more.

We should let Nash rest at least 2-3 full games and cut back Marion and Diaw's mins. I can totally tell Nash is bothered by the injuries. He just doesn't look the same when he played against the Lakers.

Glad Nash/Marion only played 30mins last night. They should be reduced more.

Rest would be good. I wonder who would get playing time thought. Would coach D even play guys he hasn't played much at all? I'm worried he might just rest nash and marion and make the other guys in the roation log heavy mins.

Cut a few minutes off of Nash and Marion, but that's about it. This team is playing horribly right now, and the last thing we need is to go into the playoffs with no cohesion. If we had a better record than 8-9 in the last month, then I'd consider it, but right now? No way. Nash needs to be out there to stabalize the team, especially with so many young guys unfamiliar with the playoffs.

Last night Grant played 17mins who it's good. Grant needs to play more to get into shape!

Nash and Marion should play no more than 30mins (I prefer less).

We've been resting our team for 10 or more games already. They have been coasting since that Clipper win a few weeks ago.

The key this year is to make it look like you are giving your all, while giving your players a break.

Couple of things I can think of are:
1. Rebounding
2. Perimeter defense

These two things need fixing. Yes, injuries has somewhat impacted rebounding and defense, but others need to turn up a notch or two to fix this problem otherwise we will keep hurting.

I think injuries is the key... and you can't really fix that.

I'm just telling you what I've read and experienced. Your body gets really fatigued over time and you can see huge gains by taking one week off approximately every 8 weeks. Your body just gets worn down, period. There have been studies by major colleges and fitness experts on this. I just don't see how three games off is going to make such a huge difference on how well they play together. I think one week off can make a huge difference though. They can watch tape if they'd like.

Unlike football (the coltS) you have several games to get in a groove. If we can't beat the Lakers after some of our key players missing just three games we won't have a chance to win the whole thing anyways.

What I honestly think is that Nash is the engine of the team. When he plays poorly, the whole team suffers. I would rather Nash take the whole game off instead of playing less minutes. We are not going to improve anyway. Everybody knows our weaknesses, so we might as well rest Nash and play our style the best way we can.

There are no mistakes here, and only two minor errors in your next, lengthier post. You can write just fine when you want to. Missing subtleties here and there is no big deal, but you can't convince me that you don't know the basic forms of "to be," the most fundamental verb in the language.
