Yup. Also, why on earth did we even kick the fg?!?!?!?! I give not a baker's f*ck what conventional wisdom says. The numbers of our team don't lie. The ball is way safer in the hands of David Johnson than anyone on any of our special teams units.
Yeah, and it's not like we have had a single bad snap on a field goal try this year or anything...oh wait.

huh? catman made that FG, this is a dumb stance.

It's only dumb becaue you apparently don't understand the OT rules. If we score a Touchdown the game is over, Seattle doesn't ever see the ball. The only reason they EVER got the ball is we had to settle for a FG and we settled for a FG because Floyd DROPPED THE BALL.

Obviously we have no idea if we score a TD on that drive or not if he makes the catch but you tell me where the odds of a TD are better, 1st and 10 from the 15 yard line, or 4th down kicking a FG?

Remind of what happened on 4th and 1 earlier in the game??? We left the winning 3 points on the field. Thats what.

OK, I am failing to understand how this loss in on Arians or Bettcher?

Arians called a game that was conservative becasue the game dictated that he do so. We didn't have John Brown, and lost Jaron Brown in the game. B Golden wasnt' getting seperation vs the Seattle defense, and the line was struggling to keep Palmer clean. Arians called the game many on this board have complained that he wasn't able to call.

Our defense was great. Bettcher, who I have been critical of, called a very good game.

Special teams lost this game. If you want to blame the special teams coach, I am good with that. But Arians put us in situations to win the game. Bettcher called a defense that shut Seattle down despite being put in some tough spots.

I just don't know how people see it any other way.

Agreed. You go up against that defense with Fitz and Floyd at WR and Momah and Gresham at TE you can't run your normal offense. Palmer missed some deep throws but for the most part he did what Arians wanted him to do, be careful, avoid bad plays, and move the chains. It worked in the sense we moved the ball but we missed a FG, had one blocked, and failed on 4th and 1.

ST was terrible and we had some huge breakdowns at key points, the Floyd drop, the Floyd hold, the miss by Cat, the blocked put thanks to Kerwynn, the failed 4th down play in large part due to Watford whiffing on a block etc.

there were just so many what ifs, what if Palmer has a split second longer on the crossing pattern by Ellington, might be a TD. What if Nelson doesn't lose his footing just long enough to allow that guy to catch him. What if Thomas doesn't make that great play and prevent DJ from getting in. Those were all great plays by Seattle though, we had plenty of what ifs that were entirely our own fault.

how many games is that now that Cantanzaro cost the team?

Horseshit perspective.

How often should teams even be in a position in which they amass 450 yards with only 6 points to show for it, and then play like doo doo on special teams?

Put the ball in the endzone at least once and this is a non-issue.

Or what if DJ dives forward with the ball instead of staying upright...

yeah but that's again an example of what a great play it was by Thomas IMO, DJ just didn't think anybody could catch him.

it's not like he dropped a TD reception. there's no garuntee we woulda scored a TD, just a garuntee the FG woulda been easier.

I agree for the most part. Floyd has just had key drops that have really cost us.

But I was being too hard on him with the emotions of last night.

People can dissect the season all they want, but at the end of the day it's very simple. If Cat and the Special teams could execute their kicks properly,,, this team would be 5-2, in first place with victories over the Patriots and Seahawks.

So really, there are a lot of other factors, but if he would do his job, our perspective as fans would be completely different.

x2.

Amazing game. Frustrating result.

1. The Floyd drop sucked. I think he is going to get vastly over-payed by someone else this off season. Curious to see who Keim finds to replace him. My lasting memory of him is the TD catch in Seattle a couple years ago. Over-all though... unfulfilled potential.

2. How to you let Seattle leap-frog your center twice in one game?

3. You've got the best RB in the game and the ball inside the 1 and you don't give him a chance to punch it in. This was a game that needed that statement ending. I get that we didn't convert on 4-1 earlier, but you run more time off the clock and give your jumbo package an opportunity to go beast mode and shove it down Seattle's throat. I hated that call.

4. Betcher was masterful - but I had flashbacks of Denny Green on Monday night on Seattle's last drive. Seattle didn't move the ball across the 50 until OT. Anyone ever see a game before where that happened?

5. Punting remains a problem. Is it really that hard to find a punter?

6. ST has been the weak link since BA arrived. I've said ever since Wiz left, that I wished we'd kept Kevin Spencer. Funny thing is, I think he's available. I don't see he's been picked up anywhere since the Chargers fired him last offseason. MAKE THE MOVE!!!

On Arians and Bettcher: it's all about the timing. I loved our play calling, for the most part, but Arians crapped the bed late. "No risk it, no biscuit" went RIGHT out the window when he wussed out and didn't use his timeouts at the end. We might have gotten the ball back or, better yet, forced a turnover. NO EXCUSE for a coach like BA to wuss out like that. NONE.

Our defensive play calling in overtime was absolutely atrocious, though that might also be on Arians rather than Bettcher. Look, Bettcher was masterful in regulation, no questions asked. Our defense was dialed in--but therein lies the problem in overtime. Why, if your defense is dominant and dialed in, do you then go soft in OT and give Wilson breathing room to drive for that FG? Why? You call the defense like you've done all game, and they go 4 and out and we win. Period. Someone submarined that defensive game plan, though, to disastrous results. The blame lies either with Bettcher or Arians.

Remember, 1,000 atta boys are all wiped out by 1 screw up.

MF has the best coach, Fitz. But he can't even take advantage of learning from him...he needs to go.
