Just loved what Dr Z had to say:

Arizona Cardinals (0-3)
I elevated them three places after their standoff with Atlanta, because I really like what their 36-year old defensive coordinator, Clancy Pendergast, is doing. They sacked Michael Vick five times, and both Vick and Falcon offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said that the Cards showed them a completely different package than what they'd seen on film. This, folks, is what is known as coaching.

He placed the Cards above the Chiefs, 49ers, and Dolphins.

I'd say that's about where we deserve - we basically only have half a football team right now.

Probably similar criteria to what they use for preseason rankings where they simply predict all the teams to finish in the same order they did the year before. :D

my opinion

If they continue to move the ball and the offense can keep them off the feild, we should be ok. There is definate improvement. Good job coaches!!

However the jury is still out, barring injuries, the Cards should keep climbing up instead of down. The Cards should be 2-1, and its not the D's fault.

Most power rankings (SI, ESPN, etc.)are strickly subjective and pretty much worthless.

For an objective mathematical formula for power ranking see:

http://www.geocities.com/redwood12065/gridiron/index.html

The only drawback to the mathematical formula is that it can't account for changes in team personnel, offseason improvements, etc. Since it looks at a team's 16 most recent non-preseason games, early in the season it reflects last years team performance.
