Someone else posted that the Cardinals are two games out of first place in the division. That may be, but they're light years away from competing for it.

I've got a literal pit in my stomach as I try to recover from that loss today. Making it worse, is the Bears game tonight. Back in the early 90's this Chicago-born kid gave up the Bears for the Cardinals when I caught the Cards Bug at ASU (when I was able to walk up and buy a ticket for cheap to an NFL game. Then, when Jake was drafted and played well for the Cards, that cemented it).

But now I wonder if the Cardinals deserve my money. They certainly don't deserve my (our) devotion.

Before you all jump on me and tell me to take a hike--don't. I'm not leaving Cardinals Fandom. I'm simply telling you how I feel--I feel like I'm in a relationship that's all take and no give. I need some give, damnit.

I need to take a step back, because I care too much about this crap.

:(

I can totally relate, I love this team, but how long can I just have my heart ripped out before I become desensitized? No matter how much I try to ignore or forget the fact, I repeated to myself today, "10.7 under the cap". I think I am coming to the realization that only the fans and players really want to win. This feeling is cyclical, last Sunday night I was looking for a rope, and now I am looking for another interest, but come Thursday, I'll be ready to watch the Cards again. What really bothers me is to have two proven studs like Fitz and Q who aren't going to want to stick around much longer. Our biggest F.A. signing is ruining his career average playing behind an O-line that can't stop anyone. As of today, he was averaging 95 ypg for his career and he may not get 95 yards a game this year the way things are looking. I hope this is just the depression talking and somehow, someway, the Cards can find a way to snap out of this crap and find a way to win a few games, but at this point, I'm not expecting much.

having been born here in phx and pretty much only liking the cardinals , i wondered today while watching the bears game if the cardinals will ever be an elite team in the NFL. like say 3 or 4 years of being REALLY good. a dominating defense like chicago or an elite offense like the colts. or even better, a good mix like the patriots were. (and still are after seeing todays game)

its just sad. what the hell have we done here to deserve this sorry excuse for a team every single year. this isnt baseball were teams have $200 million payrolls compared to others with $15million. this is the NFL were everyone is pretty much on equal footing. everyone has their down years but no matter what players we have or whos coaching, we suck. we suck suck suck suck every freaking year. hell, the freaking clippers made the playoffs last year. what the hell is going on here? :bang: :bang: :bang:

You are RIGHT ON, Pariah. I agree with everything you said. I too, am sick to my stomach. While people from other states with "real" teams were enjoying a cold beer while they watched their team "PLAY," I was chugging Pepto Bismol. That seems to be the drink of choice for us Cardinal fans.

I've been a fan since 1971 and haven't been desensetized yet. The loss today hurts as much as a shutout against the skins way back then. I think in the world of football, Card fans are a unique breed, only thing like us would be a Cubs fan.

I feel the same way. I am beaten down today. I can't stand it. Today was just disgusting. This was an ass kicking on another level. We have talent all over the field.... just not where it counts. THE OLINE!

All I could think of was... Michael and Rod talking about using the cap to re-sign core players and all that crap. What a freaking joke. Honestly there is absolutely no one out there I would re-sign at this point. I honestly thought these guys had a plan. I am really struggling to come up with words to describe how I feel. I feel lied to. I feel betrayed. I feel empty. I feel like every conceivable bad word uttered about this team is completely justified.

This organization does not deserve the amount of loyalty we have shown it.

I am totally embarrassed by the quality of football I have seen in the last two days from ASU, UofA and the Cards. This was a completely sickening weekend.

I am numb. This was so painful. I love football and have since I was a kid. I honestly am losing my love for the sport.

Cards if you cared you would fix the problem.

Well said Clif! My sentiments exactly at this point!
I as well. The joke is over. Pehaps it's time for me (us) to find another team to root for. These Cardinals...I mean Bidwills...will NEVER be any good.

Suck...suck suck...suck suck...suck...suck!!!

Have you ever had a girl that you liked so damn much but couldn't have? I feel like that with the Cards. Sometimes I just wish they would just up and leave. Sure the pain would be great at first, but eventually I would get over them.

I can't quit this team but they sure as hell do everything in their power to demoralize you.

I actually think I could.

I probably could, but I just won't. I would have to divest myself of football for a couple of years to do so. I love football too much. I love being able to cheer for the hometown team. I love having NFL football in my backyard. It would be a dark, dark day if it ever came to that.

If I ever have a problem with a business or such my wife usually wants me to talk to the owner.

I usually tell her (except on occasions where there it is just one bad employee) that there is not much use, as the problem almost invariably starts with bad ownership. No matter what the spin, whether it be public or private, bad ownership or leadership breeds a bad business. The Cardinals are a prime example.

Then look at the Suns and the old JC controlled Diamondbacks. The Suns and the Diamondbacks did not put good teams out there by accident. Ocassionally, there may be an off year, but a good owner will always strive to put a good product on the field.

Sadly, bad owners invariably never become good owners, kind of like invariably a bad tree will produce bad fruit and a good tree will produce good fruit.

you like ugly chicks Clif?

Are you equating my choice in ladies to my choice in the Cards?

The Cards are a "sexy" pick. Just ask the experts.....

They're like a busty blonde... all boobs and no brains.

I'm sure glad the Arizona Cardinals got that new stadium and the hefty sum of money from the University of Phoenix for the naming rights to add to their profit margin.

Fans? What, why do they need fans?

Anyone but me wish that Phoenix had held out for their own NFL team? I do not believe any city or state deserves the torture derived from being a fan of the Cardinals.

I know what you are saying but there was no way in hell the NFL was going to award a new team to Phoenix. Hell LA still can't get a team.

Both good points clif and Mainstreet. Hopefully other grasshoppers will see both ends of the spectrum you guys illustrated and find peace within.
lol...okay overly dramatic on my part, but good perspectives nonetheless. Kinda prolly what a lot of other Cardinal fans are wondering. Should I stay or should I go?

I think Phoenix would have gotten a team if they had held out because back then and now it is a very coveted market. Anyway, if this is what pro football is about... the past and current Cardinals... I just don't want it.

Maybe in a few years it might get better, but it is looking more and more like the older Bidwill passed on his ownership traits to his son.

Yes, I'm tired and depressed. Perhaps tomorrow and the next game will produce a little hope.

However, I feel like that old "charley Brown" cartoon skit in "Peanuts" when Lucy promises to hold the football each year so Charley can kick it only to see her pull it away at the last second (so poor Charley falls down). You see, she does this every year to Charley, but Charley never learns. Each year brings renewed hope that Lucy will let him kick the football.... not. :bang:
