Gerry McNamara would be a good regular season player for the Suns to spell Nash for minutes. Great court vision and despite his subpar players senior year still averaged 6 assists. Plus he can shoot... Career .90% FT. And on top of that he is a winner. 1 National Championship (18 points on 6-8 from 3point), 2 Big East championships(Remember the game winners again Cincinatti, UCONN, and Pitt? He thrives in a run system with athletes, remember how many dunks and alleyoops Hakim Warrick had his senior year set up by McNamara? Imagine McNamara with Amare and Marion instead of Hakim....

Another player that would be good would be Mike Gansey at the 2 Guard. 6 foot 4 and shot 43% from three.

The NBA scouts are working too hard to find a Euro prospect and great athletes who cant shoot.

PICK A PLAYER WHO CAN SHOOT!!! Worked for the Suns, the only two players on the Suns who are athletes that cant shoot well are Amare and Marion and they are dominate.

BYE-BYE Nikolia who couldnt shoot or run, BYE BYE Dijon Thompson who was a horrible shooter.

Centers, Forwards- Amare, Marion, Diaw, Thomas, Thomas, Jones, Grant, Burke (6 that play)

Guards- Nash, Bell, Barbosa, McNamara, Gansey.... House is gone by the way for sure. We should have gotten Farmar, Williams or Sergio.

Screw Jason Williams, I want GMac.

Scrambled thoughts after rereading it, haha but I really think McNamara would be great here and you get the point.

Grant is no longer here. Dijon has already been released. I think Tskita may be dropped. House will probably opt out.

I think the Suns should look at Gansey, Pittsnogle, McNamara as far as undrafted free agents.

With the regular free agents, I would look at Speedy Claxton, Jay Williams or Marcus Banks. Possibly Lindsey Hunter or Anthony Carter.

I'm with you guys on GMac. I just finished writing about him, Pittsnogle and Gansey being good players that were overlooked. Actually 3 huge stars that got a raw deal.

Boldin, I'm a Cincinnati guy and was mighty pissed when GMac's Hail Mary throw landed in the hoop at the buzzer. We thought we had the game in our pockets and James White was very upbeat with 30 secs to go in the game. Who knew some random throw could sink us.

We beat WVU to make it 1-1 for the season and escaped being 'Pittsnogled' (for those who haven't followed Big East bball, pittsnogle has become a verb that WVU fans use against their opponents when Pittsn buries them with his shot making). Gansey was great though.

But then GMac followed that up with great games against UConn and Pitt to clinch the BEast tourney. Frikkin sign him up DAntoni! Drop Skita, House and all the remaining bench warmers. Pick Gerry, Pittsnogle.

Im glad people agree. Gerry is a winner, Fan favorite and someone who could learn from Nash. College superstart now adays are getting raw deals like you said Nash poster, due to the fact that GMs have way too much stock in random European players in diluted leagues. On top of that the NBA is drafting athletes who are not basketball players.

McNamara suuuuuucks. /Jon Stewart

Seriously, even Diener would be better than McNamara. Where pro prospects are concerned, I don't think McNamara is fit to hold Andre Barrett's jock.

yeah its weird when teams start looking at athletes and 7ft poles as potential players while overlooking good players who are ordinary athletes, esp. in the 'no risk' second round. Gerry will make it in the NBA though.

btw, are you an Orange fan?

Allan Ray, GMac, Taquan Dean, Darius Washington and JP Batista would all be great looks for the suns (Batista may be a little slow but can rebound and put the ball in the hole).

Allan Ray and Taquan Dean! I totally missed out on those guys too. Both really good players. I've watched more Louisville games because Cinci and UL were together in C-USA as well.

Dean is an excellent athlete, lights out shooter and has worked on his driving skills as well. really surprised to see a top notch guy like him overlooked. But then, Louisville had a horrendous season and he was injured for a while.

The main problem with Dean is that he is very injury prone. Keeps falling sick or strains muscles/breaks bones whatever. That is the only concern. o/w he's real good.

I've watched Allan Ray play a little and he's a solid guard as well.

While I am an orange fan, you cant say McNamara sucks. He singlehandedly beat James White and Erick Hicks, then 2 days later single handedly beat Marcus Williams, Rudy Gay, Josh Boone, Hilton Armstrong, Rashad Anderson, then goes on to beat Aaron Gray and Karl Krauser, and Finally beats Brandon Bowman and the 2 seven footers.

He has heart and could learn from Nash.

And now they are in the big east together... Those too can play too, but are both 2 guards that are 6 foot. Gerry is a PG that is 6 ft.

I've been told that I have plenty of heart myself. I suppose I could learn from Nash too...but I'm never going to learn enough to contribute to an NBA team, and neither is McNamara.

Remember the Boykins rule: if you're a natural SG and your wingspan is only 5'11", you'd better be a damned good athlete. (Also, the Miles Simon rule: nobody in the NBA gives a crap about what you did in college.)

If Gerry McNamara played outside of Syracuse, he'd be Kevin Kruger or Jason Gardner. Point guards and bigs who stay all four years these days nearly always do not have pro potential or they'd already be in the NBA.

Apparently Orlando is pretty excited about him and showed interest in Gerry joining their summer league team. He's agreed to play for them. Would be interesting to see how it goes. They guy though needs to work on his conditioning and get muscular.

I don't think that Batista and Dean will ever become NBA-caliber players.

Washington is a streetball PG.

Also I would give a chance to McNamara.

I'd invite Washington to play on the summer league team. Draft Express felt he had dominated Farmar at the Orlando combine.

I'm confused. Wasn't Gerry McNamara a slow-handed, moves-like-mollases boxer in the early 80s who got pummeled by Thomas Hearns?
