Bount is a legit 7 footer and had 21 double doubles for the Celtics last season. Most of thos were over the last 2 and a half months. If we can afford him, he is the man, not Okur. Okur will cost too much and plays no defense and can't block a shot. With the team we have, Mark Blount fits much better than Okur, and the money should be better. Discuss! Dave

I've been pushing for Blount for several months. Unfortunately, he is in the East and most of us haven't seen him play. He came on strong near the end of the season and was a key to the Celtics making the playoffs, but prior to that he was a backup player. Would he do as well in the West? That is the concern, but I think he is the best option for the amount of money the Suns have.

Blount is old, he doesn't look 250 to me, and his game is right around the basket--he seems like the prototypical Eastern Conference center, who makes his living shoving small guys around and doesn't have anything to fall back on if he's facing someone who's bigger and better than him.
I like Marc Jackson a lot, but his career path doesn't suggest that he's worth the MLE, and Jackson's career is an awfully good match for Blount's to this point. I think Jackson is thicker and more of a banger, though--I'd prefer the Suns to trade a second-round pick for Jackson's $4m contract instead of signing Blount for the MLE.

Why are the Suns not looking into Swift? I think with his athletic style of play would fit nicely with the Suns?

The Suns would probably be better playing center-by-committee with Foyle, Voskuhl and Lampe than they would starting Blount every night and having him be overmatched on most of those nights.
I agree. Swift is an amazing athlete, but he's not a smart player and he doesn't block very many shots for the type of player he is. He's 6-9. I'd take McDyess back at center if it came down to signing Swift. At least McDyess is a more complete player and makes an earnest effort every game.fordronken said:

I just had to say that I'm not really excited about any of these free-agent centers. I liked Foyle, but Orlando has already reportedly offered him their full mid-level exception.
I wonder how much Antonio McDyess is going to expect from the Phoenix Suns. Right now he looks like the best option to me if he can be somewhat affordable. Actually I wouldn't mind Thomas for the full mid-level exception also.

If Blount is considering Philly, which already has Dalembert, Marc Jackson and McCullough doesn't that create a log jam. Maybe they would consider Marion for Dalembert, etc. for Marion,etc. I would not mind taking Kenny Thomas off their hands as well if they take Eisley.
As of today Marion is worth more than Dalembert. Philly just doesn't have enought pieces unless the threw in Iggy. Which I would so go for.coloradosun said:
