Better than Stanton? Calm down. The defenders he's playing against will be bagging your groceries in two weeks.

Preseason kool-aid is flowing strong tonight.

Well, Stanton has not impressed this pre-season. He has a track record I'll give him that.

Point was that Sims is much better in awareness than LT has shown. He sustains drives, which LT is very bad at.

Well, Stanton has not impressed this pre-season.

Stanton is big, strong, tough, and makes the right reads. His problem tonight was simply getting the ball there after making the right read. He's either late or under-throwing his targets, and that's not good at all.

I say he is better than Stanton also. That is not a good thing for the Cards back-up QB situation.

And playing with those same guys on his side too. Sims has looked as good as he could. Very impressive. I'd love to see him get some work with the ones and twos, and not just the threes and fours.

Stanton is garbage... That kid is so scared, I watched and re-watched every snap of his.

He just simply can not get past his first read, The ball gets snapped, his eyes zero in on a receiver..and 99% of the time that's where he throws it.

Sims is completely raw, but he already has way more upside than Stanton IMO.

Be careful not to become a prisoner of the moment during preseason, because it happens far too often.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, in 7 combined possessions, have yet to score a point this preseason. Meanwhile, Chase Daniels has 4 TD passes already. As much as I like Chase Daniels, well, he's simply not as good as those two.

At any rate, last game, LT looked light years ahead of Sims, and now the opposite tonight. I'd say they're about neck-and-neck, which doesn't speak well for LT, who is a 4th rounder trying to stave off an UDFA from Winston-Salem.

Sims was better this week, LT was better last week. Stanton was not impressive tonight at all but I wouldn't go as far as to say Sims has potential to be better than him.

You can win games with Drew Stanton. Phillip Sims has done nothing to warrant the backup role. Silly.

I miss Timmy Chang, Shane Boyd, and Tyler Palko. So much potential we let get away.

I know the stats says different, but last week, LT did not look light years ahead of Sims. Sims made 3 good while tight passes that should've been caught, & I'm not even counting the DPI one.

IMO, it would be a travesty if Logan made the roster over Sims.

Sims looked like Kevin Kolb in the pocket last week. Thomas was able to hang in the pocket, make reads, and throw good passes. Yeah, significant difference in performance.

Sims looked better tonight, but he needs much work playing within the confines of the pocket.

I'm fine with cutting Logan in favor of Sims. I have no allegiance to LT and frankly hated the pick, but Sims has to show he's better than a flash-in-the-pan preseason quarterback; something we've seen 100 times in past training camps.

Yea because Sims had at least 1 competent OL(Massie) in front of him & not have to run for dear life this game.

I really would love to see him at least work with the 2nd stringers.

My take on Stanton is not just based on tonight, it's his whole body of work.

I want my backup to be one of 2 things:

An understudy with tons of upside awaiting his chance, or a tried and tested journeyman in the twilight of his career.

Stanton is neither.

That being said, I would love Stanton as a number 3.

There is a chance that the only keep 2 QBs on the 53 man roster? I would hate the thought of that. LT wasn't bad tonight, he wasn't good either, but I agree, Simms and Thomas are neck and neck if the cards decided to keep 3 QBs.

Your 1 and 2 are coming off of injuries....no way they keep only 2.

I think they would be stupid to keep 2. What will happen is that Thomas will make the team and they will hope to sneak Sims onto the PS. If he keeps playing like this though, that may not happen.

Sims played with Less talent around him
Sims could move the ball down the field for a total of 17 Points in 2 quarters
Logan put zero Point in 3 quarters

If Thomas will make The roster is a joke

Most of LTs throws were over 20 yards. Not sure why he has some many long pass plays and not the short throws. Sims to had some long pass plays but alot of short 5 - 10 yard throws in there to.

I do not see Sims as a small school QB because he had a stint at Alabama initially because he showed 'QB' talent opposed to Thomas' athletic talent. You cannot fix accuracy to a degree and Thomas does not have accuracy. I am not saying Sims is the backup and is our QOTF, but shows more promise to me than Thomas' situation presently with the Cardinals. Preseason is a crappy way to judge QBs, because there are no exotic blitzes and the QBs down the ladder rung are not facing 1st teamers either. I still do not know how well our DC will fare because he really has not planned for a regular season game yet and this is just base preparation. Stanton lastly is experienced and does fit the journeyman title and he was able to win some games for us... Sims and Thomas do not have that on their resume as of yet :)

I wonder if we could stash Sims on the practice squad and carry just two QB's on the active roster.

edit* Now that I think about it, LT is also eligible for the p. squad... isnt he?

100% agree. Sims at least held in the pocket tonight. Still can't step up into it and throws off his back foot too much but massive improvement from last game.
