I do. Still. I'd like to give him one more full chance before we call him off

Yeah I do. The offense will change 100% when he's in. Most passing plays will be changed around to fit not only his playing style but simply because he is a left handed QB. He makes his reads different than 99% of the other QB's in the league.

Plus we run a timing offense. ALL of our routes are all based on Kurt's timing because half the time the ball is almost there before the WR even looks at it which makes it almost impossible to cover. Matt can have the same thing but it will take time and lots of practice.

Bally’s Sports needs to go away
Warner leaving puts a lot of questions on this team. Our defense clearly needs to be rebuilt and a Leinart run Cardinals can still be a great offense, but it won't be as explosive as a Warner led offense. It is unfair to Leinart to expect him to step into a pro-bowlers shoes and match his recent performances.

We have a lot to address this year, I don't think we can afford the change at QB.

_IF_ Warner leaves, you keep Leinart for his 2 years remaining with the idea you're drafting a QB after this year or resigning Leinart before the draft next year.

_IF_ Warner stays, you have to let Leinart go to avoid the bonus money he's due (as we cannot afford to have 2 big bonus QBs) and draft a potential replacement QB this year.

I am confused because I have heard that Leinarts big payday isn't until 2011 season, not next year? And I have also heard that it hits next season. Does anyone know for certain?

My argument for giving Leinart the reigns:

- Give him another full season with first-team reps and time to develop his own rhythm with the starting receivers in the summer. Probably his biggest hurdle coming off the bench.

- It means the Cards can focus on fixing more glaring issues on the defense and the OL. If Leinart doesn't work out, you make it a priority in the 2011 off-season -- but at least you've got a better team to work with and surround whomever else comes in.

Im all for giving MAtt the chance in training camp even with how bad he has looked. But you HAVE to bring in someone else to compete with him. Brian St.Pierre and Matt just isnt going to cut it IMO.

Is Steve DeBerg still living and breathing? He was the ultimate back-up QB.

I would expect us to bring in a vet backup and go with Leinart and I'd be fine with that.. we need to know what Leinart brings before we cast him off.

Question though, with the uncapped year we can only sign a FA if we lose one.. but what about retirement? If Kurt retires, do we get to sign a FA with a salary up to Kurts?

i'd imagine. we gotta find our future qb sooner or later. might as well start now. retire kurt please. and lets use his hefty salary to strengthen our weak areas

Bring in another QB in case it's not working with Matt Leinart. His number wouldn't indicate a player I'd want to see starting for the Cardinals right now. Hopefully Kurt Warner decides to come back and the Cardinals won't need to address QB this off season with all the the things that need to be addressed tho. If Kurt Warner decides to retire, the Cardinals have the money they would have paid him to look elsewhere for a starting QB.
