PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have dealt with a long and miserable 2024-25 season as they have been bitten by the injury bug from the jump and it hasn't left them alone. Joel Embiid was limited to 19 games. Paul George played 41 games. Tyrese Maxey played 52.
It hasn't been just the stars either. Kyle Lowry, Andre Drummond, Kelly Oubre Jr., Eric Gordon, and Jared McCain have all missed time due to a variety of ailments. This was supposed to be a year the Sixers would contend for a title. Instead, it has been about development and looking ahead to the draft.
With that being said, the sidelined stars have still been around in the locker room and traveling on road trips. Lowry, especially, has been one very active member of this Sixers team and he is appreciated by his younger teammates.
"It’s great," said Adem Bona. "Obviously, they haven't been able to be on the floor, but they've been with us. They talk to us most of the time. When I go to the bench and Kyle’s still coaching on the bench. It has been big, obviously, having those guys with all this knowledge. It's amazing for them to pass it down, too, so it has been big for me. Obviously, because this is my first year. This is like his 19th or like 18th year. So it's really big."
Guys like Maxey, Lowry, Gordon, Drummond, George, and others continue to be around to be a big help to their younger teammates. While this wasn't the season anybody expected, it's still good for them to continue being around and help their younger teammates move forward.
