My guess is that JC wants to make the 76ers an entertaining team to watch and build from there.

"All-NBA" Goran Dragic is struggling and unhappy? You don't say.

I would never have thought it about him a little over a year ago but he is one of those players who'd rather play his own style... and probably lose a lot more, than play the way that is best of the team.

Unfortunately for DA, there is no Steve Nash in the league right now.

Curry is probably the closest and he looks like he will be retiring as a Warrior whenever the time comes.

Stephen Curry looks to be a once in a lifetime player. He is that good.

We watched that press conference while it was happening and I couldn't get a feel for the situation. If you take him at his words, he's subordinate to Sam and is there just to offer input. I don't know if that's how it's really going to be or if that was just Jerry being diplomatic.

Bob Cooney in the Philly paper had a great line about this:

As for who makes final decisions, Colangelo, Hinkie and Harris all talked of it being a collaborative effort. Yeah, right. That's like bringing in Michael Corleone to collaborate with his brother Fredo.

Reminds me of the Diamondbacks bringing in Tony LaRussa, he was just there to provide some oversight and expertise... it rapidly became clear that Kevin Towers had virtually no input anymore... and thank god.

To the surprise of no one on ASFN, Jerry wasted no time in hiring Mike D'Antoni as Associate Head Coach of the 76ers.

A showman as a backup is a good move for Philadelphia's public relations.

At least Jerry knew better than to consider 'Antoni as Head Coach.

enough of the personal attacks
You're right! I posted a happening that had not yet been mentioned here and stated my opinions that Mike D'Antoni was more of a showman for the fans than a well-rounded Head Coach, which is the 76ers priority right now.

Such as ridiculing to the Press the concept of coaching defense.

And that he is OK as a backup, but I was happy to see that JC did not consider him to be a Head Coach for the 76ers.

It wasn't personal and it wasn't an attack. Mike D'Antoni is a public figure and I gave my opinions as such.

I guess you disagree by the nature of your post, although you did not mention anything specifically. OK!

Associate Head Coach sounds more threatening than 'lead assistant coach' - the title he gave D'Antoni when Frank Johnson was head coach here.

True, but as long as he's not "Head Coach", I feel there is common sense in the NBA.

Of course, Jerry's job is to try to make the Philadelphia 76ers relevant again, the first part of which might include gimmicks.

They have a long way to go to reach the point the Suns are at. On second thought, we have our own gimmicks, don't we? And neither team has a Steve Nash to quarterback it.

Well if Jerry is looking to add more Suns connections he shouldn't have to wait to long to put Gentry on the payroll. After watching his interview last night I can't believe he'll be the Pelicans Head Coach much longer.

Their injury issues might have bought him a season but he sounded like a man on the edge. If he makes it through the all star break I'll be shocked and I wouldn't rule out a 2015 firing even with less than 2 weeks remaining in the year.

I've always thought well of Gentry as a coach, but his stint with the Pelicans has me reconsidering. It's been a disaster and the blame pretty much has to fall on him.

The Pelicans have a good team on paper and would have a better team on the court if they were playing up to their ability. This team should be dominating with Anthony Davis. They were a tired team last night and they have had some injuries but that doesn't explain their record. Something is wrong. Maybe this team is void of a leader on the court. GS doesn't miss a beat no matter who is coaching them with Stephen Curry.

Davis is not playing as well this year. Not sure if that is Gentry or not. Here are some differences.

1. They are shooting more poorly across the board.
2. Ryan Anderson has been given a bigger role.
3. 3 of their top 6 rotation players ares small guards (Gordon, Holliday, Smith)
4. Asiks minutes have dropped through the floor.

Looks to me like they have gone small but don't have the speed to go fast. So they lose the advantage of going small.

I think the points you make are valid. Also it looks like they have weaknesses at Center, SF and even PG. They should do a trade to fix a couple of these problems. It appears the Pelicans have some chemistry issues as well.
