This exact post is the reason why you shouldn't be complaining about any elbows.

I haven't been, but since you brought it up -- throwing elbows into opponents' faces is not yet an accepted part of "playoff basketball." It may be soon, but right now, it's still on the other side of the fuzzy line. Only a few star players are permitted to do it. Constant bumping and holding, however, is allowed by a much wider range of players, including both Bryant and Bell.

I'm gonna agree with Eric here D-Dogg, clearing with elbows above the shoulders, especially with your back to the defender, is not accepted in playoff or regular season NBA. Below the shoulders, its generally allowed, but above the shoulders, and connecting is a flagrant foul. The player can clear space using elbows below the shoulder, above is intent to injure.

Yeah, that should have been called a flagrant 1. However, which other elbows have hit Raja in the face in this series? That's the only one I've seen. Trying to compare Kobe and Karl Malone is waaaay off base.

http://www.nba.com/features/misunderstoodrules_051128.html#Flagrant_Fouls
Flagrant Fouls: These fouls are considered unnecessary and/or excessive. There are two types of flagrant fouls, 1 and 2. A flagrant 1 is unnecessary contact. This is usually when a defensive player swings and makes hard contact with the offensive player or makes hard contact and then follows through. A flagrant foul 2 is unnecessary and excessive contact. This usually has a swinging motion, hard contact, and a follow through. Both fouls carry a penalty of two free throws and the team that was fouled retains possession. A flagrant foul 2 also results in an ejection of the player committing the foul. A player also is ejected if he commits two flagrant foul penalty 1’s.

so would you think that a offensive player hit you in the face with an elbow that was both planned and acted on with no reason but to take the defender out of the game that it would be unneccessary and excessive, that would be a flagrant 2.
as far as other elbows that kobe has given raja during this playoffs i would have to go back and watch every game and i havent recorded them so i will have to take his word for it, but in the past year you look at the first the first time this season that the suns meet the lakers when raja had his lip opened up by kobes elbow?
karl got his bad name because he hit a number people with elbows. what can you say about a player who has hit at least 2 differant players in a 6 games span with elbows? i think that kobe is well on his way to earn the name baby malone with his play with his elbows this season. heck i dont if i ever saw malone cheap shot someone as bad as what kobe did to miller.

Kobe has also tried to hit Raja in the family jewels a few times. In fact, when Raja took Kobe down...Kobe looked to be almost getting them. I think Raja anticipated the hit and pulled Kobe down cuz he was done taking the hits from Kobe. Kobe missed the jewels that time, but it looks like he's looking for 'em right before the take down. Raja even has stated that Kobe does try this manuever quite a bit.

My apologies D-Dogg, I did not mean to compare Kobe with the Mailman, the Mailman was alot worse with his elbows. I only stated that the technique was used by the mailman, who may have been aiming his elbows at heads.

Wasn't it Joe Klein for the Suns that Malone nearly broke his nose? That was wicked.

This photo clearly defines why we are still talking about it. It is not beating a dead horse until the horse stops responding. We will continue to beat until that stupid speech bubble goes away! As long as y'all keep talking back, we should continue the beating.:D

Lakers are thugs, Kobe is the chief thug, and Phil Jackson is the orchestrator of LA's dirty style of basketball. Period.
