A few notes I spotted while tracking week 2 snap counts:

Offense:
1. QB - Palmer obviously was on the field for all 66 plays this week, nine fewer than last week.

2. OL - the five "starters" played in all snaps. In addition, Will Holden took part in 23% of offensive snaps, ostensibly as a Jumbo TE. The TE room must be suffering from Gresham's absence this week.

3. RB - Ellington got the most action on the day, but with only 30 snaps. Kerwynn saw 18 plays and CJ2K 17. Elaja Penny saw additional action over week 1, but still only 8 plays. I wanted to see him pound it during our early goal line effort that ended with the missed fade to Fitz on 4th down. But given our reluctance to ever use Stepfan Tayler in past years in this role, I probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

4. TE - Even with Gresham inactive, neither Niklas, nor Momah saw 50% of the action. Niklas only active for 30 plays on Offense. Sad group of characters at this point. Newly acquired Jim Dray, who was active, did not get on the field other than 5 ST plays.

5. WR - Larry remains our bell cow with 62 plays. Both Jaron and JJ saw 50 plays each, which was a sizable increase for JJ, ostensibly filling in for Smoke. Both Golden and Chad Williams saw their first action of the season with 20 and 10 plays on O each.

Defense:
1. DL - Once again, Peters and Rucker saw the most action at about 60% of D-snaps each in their rotations. Everyone else finished with similar snap counts from previous week with one exception... Nkemdiche saw his first action of the season with 19 snaps, which he appears to have taken from Gunter, who only saw the D side of the field for 2 snaps. (Gunter does play on ST - where he was notably called for a leverage penalty, as I recall.)

2. LB - Jones and Dansby continue to be involved on nearly every snap, missing only 4 and 2 snaps respectively. Golden increased his presence to 90%, but I think that may be more due to his eye injury week 1. Reddick saw increased action, logging almost 80% of action this week, roughly a 20% increase, mostly at the expense of Bynes who was down to 20%. Gabe Martin continues to play around 10%.

3. DB - Badger, PP, and Branch continue to play every down, while Bethel was only on the sideline for 5 plays. Bethea saw a little less action than the week before, but still significant play at 73%. Is Rudy Ford still on the roster? No action yet from him or Brandon Williams on D this season.

That's about it.

I like CJ on the goal line, he is good at slipping through tiny cracks to get a few yards.

Was exciting to see Golden make that big catch and run. He has not had a lot of regular season success so I am sure that was huge for him.

Budda Baker showed up big for only having 3 defensive snaps. He stopped a guy short of a 1st down to get us the ball back for the game tying drive & he was very good as a gunner on ST. One of Andy Lee's punts went 55 yds in the air & Budda stopped him immediately for a 1 yard gain.

Was going to say the same thing. 3 snaps and he did that well? Wow!

Carson has missed a ton of out routes in the first 2 games. Almost all of the misses bounced short.

I have a question about Jim Dray. He was dressed for the game and the NFL.com pdf file of the game has him playing in the game, but the snap counts did not include him, my expectation was that he may have played special teams, but not offense. Does anyone remember him getting into the game?

HE also seems to have more trouble throwing to the right side and the paly calling seemed to favor the left side of the field. Not sure if that's because of Arians or things just opened up more on that side or Palmer's just more comfortable going to that side.

Arians praised both branch and the other safety
So budda baker will play the 3/5% of the defensive snaps
A shame
