There was a story just a couple of days ago in ESPN on a Canadian group, who HAS the money, negotiating with the NHL to buy the team. They are also talking to Glendale. I have heard this all before, but I think the time is just about out. If the sale doesn't happen this season/offseason, I think the team is gone.

After 3+ years of this story, in addition to a tea party City Council it looks bleak at best.

I think the decision has been made and the NHL doesn't want lame duck status for the rest of the season. If Yotes don't make playoffs then it's open season

People have been burying them forever, but groups keep popping up to keep them around. They're not gone yet.

I think this deal that finally happens. That group either buys the Yotes and works out an agreement w/ CoG and they stay or the CoG balks and the Yotes are moved.

I would agree since it seems that the NHL is selling for only $170M. Is that the same price that it has been for everyone? That seems low to me for a sports team, even if they have been "losing" money (in quotes, because who really knows).

Yeah, that's been the offer for everyone else. It's actually high compared to their value - $90-110mill, i think.

Supposedly they lose $15-20mill a year. There are more ways to make $$ though. I've yet to pay parking (regular or playoffs). How much extra could they make that way???

The NHL has been operating them for $25mill a season, so they want to recoup some losses too.

ok, so when I lived in AZ 5 years ago, I didn't follow hockey at all. Since I've been living in ND i've started to really like hockey, I don't follow the teams or anything, but I love going to college games up here. I had PLANNED on going to a bunch of coyote games when I get back, but it looks like that might be in jepordy.

What exactly went wrong? how are they about to move after recent success, and a brand new arena.

What would they DO with that brand new arena? millions of dollars down the drain. they would still have concerts there, but there's no way that will pay the bills on the place, what a waste.

I wonder if the NHL is finally settling for bids, if they're true bids, after the Jamison fallout.
The NHL wanted something like $170mil for a while, which was waaaaay too much.

The Canadian group also has a bid in and was to meet w/ the NHL and CoG, but the meeting was cancelled.

Still not much to get excited about until the deal is signed.

NHL wants their $$ and they want it now!! The saga continues..

While Daly declined to offer more details, a source close to the situation said one key sticking point was that Pastor’s bid financed the deal over a 15-year period while the league expects the entire deal to be completed within a three-to-five-year window, with the expected price still listed between $150 million and $170 million.

I've officially become numb to the situation. Just let them move.

I think these groups are just using the Coyotes for their own publicity. Why would you put forth a proposal that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements?

Same here. I didn't miss many playoff games back when they played downtown and I still love watching playoff hockey on tv and in person but since the lockout a few years ago I've felt disconnected.

I've been to a handful of games in Glendale and I just didn't have the same passion I had years ago. I definitely would like them to stay but at this point the whole situation sucks for fans.

I think they're supposed to possibly vote on Tuesday, but not a sure thing, since Glendale is asking for a little more time.

Just got an alert on my phone that the deal is on peril after Glendale's latest proposal. No story up yet with details.
