I read that it's out, Best Buy has it exclusively right now. I'm going to get it eventually just because one of the drummers, Brian Mantia, went to school with me. But I'm curious after all these years what does it sound like, a new CD or a CD that was made 15 years ago and just now released?

Nope. Rock Band 2 has one of the tracks on it. I have yet to even try to play it.

Reviews have been good, overall, but the snippets Ive listened to? I thought it was TERRIBLE. Rose sounds like an old man whose voice was compressed and effected a jillion times to make him sound 20 years younger. Its a really weird record, and not at all was I expected. I guess it makes sense to progress musically, but not when the industry has been blowing your doors off for 15 years. He should have done a hard core old school sounding G-n-R record to get him back in the game.

Im notoriously finnicky, so maybe Im off base, but man, I have ZERO interest in even illegally downloading this thing... let alone buying it.

I sampled it. Thought the title track had a lot of what was good about GnR, thought the rest of the songs had too much of what was bad about GnR.

Of course I want more "Welcome to the Jungle" than "November Rain".

Really? Chris Parker (local radio DJ for you out-of-towners) said it was HORRID. He went on for about 5 minutes about how awful it was & to not waste your time on it. It was a train wreck from beginning to end.

I guess, for me, I don't take people's opinion on music as important. If you like it, you like it. If you hate it, you hate it. Screw what some other idiot says about it, especially ones paid to talk about it.

I can not stand Pearl Jam and their song (one song, they don't have more than one song, it just has a lot of names) but people rubbed it out to those guys. Oh well...your tastes are your tastes.

To me, it sounds like 3 records spliced together. It's not all bad or all good. I don't know. It bothers me that it's called "Guns and Roses" when it really isn't. It's an Axl Rose solo album.

Agreed but if you've seen the stories on GNR you know that Axl at one point essentially threatened the other members of the band if you don't sign over the rights to the name and the music, I'll quit the band. That was apparently the beginning of the end, they agreed to do so and finish the use your illusion albums but after that nobody trusted Axl.

Mantia is Brian Mantia he's the guy I went to school with(he was a couple of years ahead of me his sister was in my class) and he's the drummer I haven't bought the CD yet it's on my to do list.
