I coach lacrosse for Davidsonville and at our end of the year tournament yesterday the father of two of my players handed me a phone and said "it's for you". I take the phone and ask who I am talking to and the voice on the other end says "This is Michael Bidwill, glad to meet you." Now, the guy who handed me his phone has known for a while that I am a huge Cards fan and had told me earlier in the season that he is good friends with Mike B. They attended Georgetown Prep together here in DC.

I was floored. All of the players and parents had known what was going on so they were all standing around and laughing (some videotaping). I've been told I looked like a 13yr old girl taking a phone call from Justin Timberlake. I have met many players and personel people before, but never a menber of the Cards. Anyway, I sat there and talked to him for about 10 minutes and then not wanting to take up too much of his time just thanked him for what he's done and handed the phone back.

It really just amazed me how nice he was. Granted I should have known because his buddy who gave the phone is a really awesome guy. I have met Dan Syder 3-4 times (I did some work at his house) and was an absolute DICK. And it wasn't just because I was there to work, he was an ass to everyone I saw him communicate with. Bidwill couldn't have been friendlier. I really dont think he gets near the credit he deserves for how much he has improved the club. He was actually even pretty damn funny. Anyway, just wanted to brag and say what a cool guy he was to take time out of his schedule for a fan like that. I am so pumped about where this organization is going and cant wait for him to get full control of the team.

Soooo....when's Wilon getting his extension? Is Dansby going to re-sign? Will Boldin get his money? Sheesh, don't tell me you didn't ask anything important? ;)

Seriously though, that is awesome. What a treat for you. I'm glad you sound so very confident in him to lead our team into a new era, because it's that kind of leadership this team so desperately needs. Rock on!

sending you a pm right now

edit, sorry, Chris Sanders took away my ability to pm

Dont be mistaken, I GRILLED him!!!! I even quizzed him when he first got on the phone to make sure it was really him. He said Wilson will be done over the next few weeks and that that Boldin WILL resign. I just dont want to put it all out there. It wouldn't be right for me to go and repeat everything the man said. You and I will be very happy with the direction this team goes in over the next few years.

I had talked to "Steve" (Mike B's friend) about a month ago for over an hour about the Bidwill's and the team and came away with a real newfound respect for Mike in particular. He really has made this team and it's successfull future his life. We are in very good hands IMO and I really expect us to be in the upper-echolon for a long time.

I had the chance to meet him at a bar on St Patricks day and he could not have been nicer, a very genuine guy.

Met him when I visited AZ for the Seattle game last year. Very kind, very patient, and seems to have all the time in the world for his fans.

Got nothing bad to say about the guy.

Thats really cool CardsFanMD. I love hearing positive things about our ownership. They have been making great strides from the old management philosophy.

I heard a radio interview (couple months back on Bickley and MJ) with Charley Trippi from the old Cardinals and he had nothing but positive things to say about Bill Bidwill. Maybe the media is coming around and will give the Cards' mgmt a fair shot in the future.

Very nice story, Justin. Holds true with Michael's reputation that he is deeply involved in the daily management of the team and actively involved/consulted on contracts.

No I didn't
When I got banned from P&R my mailbox was shrunk. I deleted like 25 or 30 PMs, but it still says that it's full and wont let me send or receive them. Did you think your threats of more irrational banning were what kept me from complaining about the original ban?

You got banned from P&R? That's an accomplishment. Hugo Chavez, Jane Fonda, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Attila the Hun, Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin wouldn't have been banned there.

No kidding, I make a joke and I'm gone for a month. They didn't get banned because dictators love each other. According to Chris my ban is gonna be a year now for questioning his authority. Whatever will I do????

I'd love to discussing this via private message, but...

When you click on Private Messages what does your version of the attached graphic say?

Folder Controls Inbox contains 117 messages.
You have 188 messages stored, of a total 125 allowed. (Empty Folder) Jump to Folder:

I get that it says only 125 are allowed now, but I am not deleting my PMs just because somebody is pissy with me. When my full amount allowed is restored I will PM again.

MD, I made a change for now that should allow you 200 messages. I posted it in the mod forum so I am not sure it will be permanent, but you can PM for now.

Once your P&R ban is lifted next month you will have a 300 msg allowance.

At this year's Fan Fest I suddenly found myself face to face with him. I was so surprised to see who it was that I said, "Thank you", which was lame but it was what popped out of my mouth.

He looked me in the eye and said, "No, thank you!". Which impressed me no end.

Now, if we can just get the graphics people at Channel 3 in Phoenix to learn how to spell his last name correctly...

Not to turn this into a P&R discussion, but a large group of people got personal in P&R and it was all reported by a moderator. Thus, multiple bannings were issued including Cardsfanmd (and even a moderator).

Chris, I am not questioning the bannings. My guess is they were all well deserved. I was poking fun at the aggrieved. My have moderated boards and that is a good thing.

As you know, I rarely go to the Suns board and never visit the idiocy we call our P&R board any more. To each his own.

It's because of threads such as this that I enjoy ASFN so much...
:raccoon::raccoon::raccoon:

Well, without the ancillary comments regarding bannings, board politics, and such that is!! :|

Very cool, cfmd!
