If the Suns lose this year, you can pretty much put a wrap on the Nash era in Phoenix.

Eddie Johnson for head coach please!

I've been saying this for 2 years. EJ knows his stuff.

ah, but most "championship teams" don't get to pick at 15 either. I'm not even saying the guy should be a starter, but just a rotation guy to contribute and allow our big guns not to be worn out by the end of the year. And to dismiss the pick as ou... eh, who cares.

That's essentially the dilemma at early mid round, you could get a guy with a lower ceiling but more NBA ready or a guy with a huge upside but won't be contributing on a veteran team...that's not even taking into account position of need and where you think you can upgrade via trades or FA's. What if Kerr is in love with a guy who plays Power Forward and he drops to 15? do you pass on him for a guy you know could fill a need right away like back up pt or SG? All this knowing you have the upcoming season before you make drastic changes.

to be totally honest, I don't think there's a position on this club that couldn't use a backup. I mean, after Shaq and Amare we really have ZERO big men anyway, so PF would be fine with me.

to be totally honest, I don't really expect the 15th pick to make much of an impact next year. I think next year's success probably lays at the feet of Straw and Tucker's feet. ONE of those guys has to end up being a solid rotation player and a little injection of youth into this club. Otherwise, I think we're just gonna be too old playing guys too many minutes.

Pop played the role of both coach and GM for a few years until he finally relinquished the GM role. I could see Kerr doing the same thing--and he would be great. Lots of savy--classy person all the way around--but I don't see a change in Coach D.

But....why is it that Popovich is always the one recruiting players? Finley, Barry, Grant Hill etc.. He may not be the "GM" but he has a ton of pull, would be no different here. D'Antoni has almost zero pull anymore, he has bungled away all his power setting up his family with cushy jobs and making careless personnel decisions.

Remember this, some thought Kerr's job was on the line with the Shaq deal and that's insanity, D'Antoni is not Kerr's coach nor was he Sarver's coach, Sarver despite being a prudent spender, also is aware of his 602 cred, if someone gets the axe it sure as hell won't ever be Kerr.

What's the infatuation with Kerr or Eddie Johnson? Being able to write a good article or talk about a game in progress isn't the same as coaching. Either of them might be a fine coach, but there's absolutely no reason to presume they would be. I'd love to see the Suns hire a coach with a real track record for a change, instead of just another Nice Guy who talks a good game.

Steve Kerr is a solid b-ball mind. I would prefer he picks up the reins after Lute Olson officially retires, that would rock. He could coach the Suns though and would be one of many coaches who used to play guard for an NBA Team. Reared a PG, you always hear that good PG's are extensions of their coaches and Steve knew how to maximize his talents.

With regards to Gregg Popovich. Even though he is coach, and he has RC Buford as his GM, remember that when it comes to the Spurs, the guy who makes all the decisions to all things basketball has the title, Vice-President of Basketball Operations. That guy's name is...Gregg Popovich.

Dan D'Antoni is a good assistant coach who frequently disagrees with his brother on basketball issues.

In a van...down by the river.
(My slightly different P.Westphaul impersonation)
Mojo say's: "We're gonna win game 2, we're gonna come home and get another split, go back to S.A. and blow em out of the building, come back home and play like dogs, head to S.A. and in the mother of all games.....pull out a win for the ages. Everybody will say what a great series it was.....and David Stern will actually attend the '08/'09 ALL-STAR Game."

If the Suns lose this series, they would be out the first round.

My best prediction yet.
