It's only week 7 I know. But that is virtually the 1/2 way point in the season, and I happen to believe that seasons can very easily be made or broken at this stage...
It's true that the NFC West is a horrible division and most likely be won by a team with 8, perhaps 7 wins this year! That would leave us to believe that a week 7 game really isn't all that important, as teams like the Cards and Hawks already have 3 wins. We only need 4 more to be in serious contention!
However... The Hawks host the Rams this weekend, and I just can't see Seattle losing at home to St. Louis... And of course, we are at the Skins... I can very easily see us down a game to the Hawks after this weekend, and depending upon how the Skins game plays out (I have my worries about witnessing an horrific experience), momentum can very easily move in the direction of Seattle and away from us... We both have bye's in week 8 and in week 9, we travel to Tampa Bay and the Hawks go to Cleveland. Which of those games seems more winnable for the Cards & Hawks? My vote would be the Hawks have the better shot at the Browns vs. us against the Bucs... Which means that after week 9, we can be 3 & 5 and Seattle could be 5 & 3...
Totally guessing here of course, but is it really that unfathomable??

So, IMO - the upcoming game in Washington is HUGE! Not only for the reasons I have stated above, but for the message it would send to everyone, most importantly the players themselves... This game is THE game where in years past, we would fold up like a cheap tent... We do that again this weekend, and I do believe the rest of the season is in serious jeopardy...

What do you think?

There are only 16 games. We've already lost 3. They're all big.

:yeahthat:

That being said, I felt this was a good test since week 3 or so. I dont like our chances.

After laying the egg at home, we need to get back over .500 before the bye. We can't rely on Seattle getting their asses handed to them every week.

The division is up for grabs. At some point, we have to just reach out and take it.

I can't put that much weight on a game where I think that there is a very good chance that we will lose.

The "huge" games are the one's like last week, when we play at home against a weaker opponent. When we don't hold serve at home, we greatly diminish our playoff aspirations. When we win on the road, that is gravy.

Of course looking at the poll numbers, I am very much alone in this thinking. :)

the season rides on the bucs game IMO. If we're .500 with two VERY winnable home games coming up next and relatively healthy, we'll be in good shape.

that being said, it would GINORMOUS to win this weekend, but with the injuries we've suffered, our still spotty road play (still can't believe we gave up 31 points to the Rams), I think it would take a near miracle to beat a semi-above average Skins team in their house.

We play the Bengals on the road in between the two home games.

I agree with you. If we are at 4-4 after these next two games, we should be in it right until the end. If we are 3-5, still having Seattle up there, our chances are very poor of making the playoffs.

If by some miracle we are 5-3 after these road games, we SHOULD make the playoffs.

What he said..It would be HUGE to get a win but I just don't see it happening..The Cards are just too banged up...play competitive and get healthy for the 2nd half of the season...A loss would suck but it doesn't break the season...

With all the injuries the team that takes the field Sunday will not be representative of what the Cards will have to finish the season. So the game really doesn't make or break the season.

It's a BIG game, because it is entirely winnable, despite all the injuries. We have to steal a win on the road because of the Carolina loss. This is one of the better opportunities IMO.

The team should get a spark from the return of Anquan Boldin. I think Warner plays 2-3 series, with the direct snap in the shotgun going to Edge who either takes off running, or gingerly hands the ball to Kurt, then picks up the blitzing safety or LB, while Kurt hits a streaking B.J., Q, or Fitz for the big gain.

Meanwhile, Antonio Smith and Darnell Dockett feast on the injury-depleted Redskin line, snuff the run and sack Campbell and make tomato soup out of him.

GO CARDINALS!!!

Leinart out, Dansby out.

Levi Brown, Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin are all hobbled.

Wilson is dinged up as well.

I want to see the players above stay healthy and get to the bye without re-aggrevating anything more than I want a win against the Skins.

Injuries are one thing but the injury bug is destroying the core of this team right now.

The Cardinals are easily half the team they have the potential to be, so as much as I would like to eek out a win. If we don't I will not be too surprised or upset.

We will be a much better (healthier) team after the bye. This week will be big if we win, but not devastating if we lose IMO. Whats important is that the D plays well and we dont get embarrassed.

I really hate Dallas... 5-1 thinking they RULE THE SCHOOL.

that's because at this point, in NFC School, they do.

I still can't believe we lost to that pathetic Panthers team with Testicles starting at QB.

Yeah, and that's why you shouldn't be so shocked that we lost that game. Testacles had a 4 day head start on Rattay - I guess that was the difference maker.

even so, we should have been able to beat a 44 Year Old guy in retirement, at home, with a better O-line. The QB comparison isn't what lost the game - it was the piss poor pass recieving skills killing drives and leading to turnovers and our Defense going belly up when we needed stops. Both QBs were a joke coming into the game - it's just that our defense made Vinny look good. At home, there's no way we should lose that game considering the circumstances.

Seriously. The Cards should SHOULD have been able to field goal the Panters to death in a field position battle. But, NOOOOOOoooo.

Actually, considering the state of the QB's, I think it was the field position battle that killed us. We had a long field all day while they had the ball midfield. That put a lot of pressure on our D all day long. Eventually it took it's toll.

the defense was finally given a break as we downed the Panthers deep back in their own territory and not only could they not make a play, they gave up HUGE plays to kill the game. That was pathetic. It's a 60 minutes game and TOP was pretty even throughout - they just crapped the bed in the fourth like they have every game, no matter what the battle of field position was.

Bottom line, you're at home against what's already a mediocre team with a geriatric just off the couch QB. There's no excuse for a loss in that scenario.

Totally agree. No excuse fo rthat loss whatsoever. Our D should have been able to hold that one down considering the circumstances and they failed miserably. That was the game we REALLY needed with Washington and TB coming up on the road.

Cheese, up until 6 mins left in the game, we were winning! The friggin score was 10-9! Our offense sucked! Our defense kept in check one of the best WR's in the game! I don't care if it was Testicals or some other schmuck throwing the ball, sooner or later Smith is going to hurt you! It's just not reasonable to expect our defense to shut him down for an entire game. We don't have a secondary filled with Pro Bowlers for gods sake...
Our offense SHOULD be capable of putting up more than 10 points in a game!
