So what's the verdict on Jalen Rose?

Jalen Rose is amazing. I have never seen a player who was so nothing when he gets minutes. He's not bad, he doesn't screw anything up, but he doesn't do anything great either. He is completely neutral.

Its probably too late in the season now, but I sure would've liked to have seen Jumaine Jones get more minutes, seems like with his size and athleticism he could've been helpful.

Maybe if the Suns blow another team out we can see a Banks, Rose, JuJones, Piatkowski, Burke line up on the floor at one time, that would be fun.

If you consider that he has only gotten spotty minutes with some starters for 3 games, he is doing pretty well. Not to mention, I have been impressed with his defense on whomever he is guarding.

Rose has very little lateral quickness and gets beat off the dribble often. To his credit when that happens he just grabs the guy to prevent a layup. If he can funnel the offensive player to help he should be fine.
He has good defensive awareness and long arms to get deflections but he is often out of position trying to stop penetration.

On offense he doesn't drive to the basket much and his range is limited but he can hit the corner three. Rose would be more effective with a midrange jumper, post up, or a pick and pop situation.
I still think he can be a valuable bench player in the playoffs.

Over the last 3 games I watched him stop several penetrations. Maybe he can't do it consistantly but he is good enough IMO.

His job isn't to drive to the basket though. He job is to space the floor and take open shots when he gets them. He's limited because he is not going to get the opportunity to use all of his offensive skills. We don't need him too either. We just need him to be productive in stints off the bench. Especially if James Jones repeats what he did last year (which it appears he is) and is headed for a late season slump again.

Why have we stopped using Banks?

Banks at very least supplies great D. He did show a couple games that he could be an offensive threat if given 10 er so minutes a game.

I've lost hope in:
1. Raja "I missed another 3, ring a" Bell
2. Kurt "Give my position to Pat Burke" Thomas
3. James "I give up on life" Jones
4. Jalen "Creaky Knees" Rose

Banks sucks in this sysytem. During the broadcast they mentioned that D'Antoni said that Banks doesn't fit the system. He has had plenty of opportunity. His great D has never materialized IMO. I have seen him commit alot of stupid fouls. In this system you cannot foul or it slows down the offense. Not to mention offensively he shoots first passes 2nd. The offense has looked horrid when he has been in there.

So give me more #1, #2, #3 and #4 before I ever see Banks again.

The Suns offense is at it's best when you have constant player and ball movement. Each player when they get the ball should drive, pass, or shoot. Many of the three points they get are from a drive and kick situation.

Stagnation in the offense tends to come from guys that don't drive (like Jones or Rose) or players that don't shoot (like Banks and sometimes Diaw).

Banks most certainly does not supply great D.
Just give up, Banks will not be here next season nor will he play any significant minutes in the playoffs, he was a total failure.

I think it will be tougher to move Mr Banks than what is presumed. His agent wrapped up almost 17 mill in him for his remaining paychecks.

What a bafoonish signing. Just when we needed to avoid such inkings on the tail of Burke and Grant ... our braintrust goes out and signs Marcus long term, Pike for two yrs, then follow up with wasted bench space JuJones, Marks and Rose. PeeU.

ABSOLUTELY NO IMPROVEMENT from last yr... If Amare hadn't made such strides, we'd be a .500 ballclub.

Huh? That's what they said last year (being a .500 club) and we made it to the WCF without Amare. :doi: Also, if Rose keeps contributing he's hardly wasted space. Banks can be moved but it will probably take a pick or a package combo.

not to mention that Banks is such an aweful floor general for this team, that the only time he SHOULD be on the court is when he's up against the other team's bench players.....in which his FABULOUS D becomes irrelivant.

So what is wrong with...

1. Nash
2. Barbs
3. Marion
4. Diaw
5. Amare

???

Have bell come off the bench as the 6th... move barbs to pg...

i just dont see why we'd give more time to bell than barbs...

Nothing per se. It's a good lineup. However, if the Suns start their two point guards (excluding Banks) then I do not like the rotation thereafter. I know it has worked the past couple of games but I really like LB primarily coming off the bench to relieve Nash.

I would like to try:

Nash
Bell
James Jones (or plug in another player here)
Marion
Amare

Diaw and LB would come off the bench.

Not to mention if Barbosa gets into foul trouble then who do you bring in to spell Nash then?

There's your answer. The Suns need Diaw to initiate the offense when Nash is off the floor. According to 82games.com, only one of the Suns' 18 most frequently employed lineups this season has both Nash and Diaw on the bench. That lineup (Barbosa-Bell-Jones-Stoudemire-Thomas) is among the least efficient configurations on the list, and they've been outscored more often than not.

We need Raja's defense, especially in the playoffs. The lineup of Nash/Bell/Diaw/Marion/Amare is fine, and I don't see any reason to change.

I think Dantoni should try to find a way to have leandro coming off the bench. I think Rose should start when they play bigger players and leandro is smaller and quicker players.

In the end it doesnt matter who starts but who plays the most minutes.
