Malcolm Jenkins is more like a Nate Clements, Ashton Youboty, or Ahmed Plummer than Shawn Springs,Chris Gamble or Antoine Winfield. I think the latter group was/is much better. THe OSU guy to look for on the Cards is James Laurinitis. As for the CB's,Justin King is as good as anyone out there athletically.

Yeah, Laurinitis is an animal, I mean he is literally an Animal and could also challenge Pacman Jones in the WWE.

I will be at that game..... No way we lose big. I got a good feeling about that game a couple of nights ago.

I think we might squeak out a victory. Then all of the news sites will be giving us all kinds of love.

Balt will be tough but they are beatable. Their offense is going to regress more and their D is not quite as good as it used to be (still awesome though). I don't think they were as good as their 13-3 record either. we have a shot. That would really wake up a lot of people if we won that game.

You know -- the regular season is 17 weeks long, and we get 16 doses of unequivocal reality. It will come soon enough.

I would really prefer to spend the remaining five weeks of preseason enjoying the possibility of what could be. Following football is supposed to be entertainment.

thank you for a great post that perfectly captures my sentiments

I say the Question is when do we start the Draft DE - Chris Long to replace Antonio Smith Threads.

We can start talking about 2008 Free agents as well. But a word of caution the 2008 free agent list looks like crap and thats even before the 2007 season starts and players start to get extended or get franchised.

I'm with joeshmo on this one....DE is a high priority going forward.

I think the Cards would take Jonothen Stewart over Slaton. He is bigger than Slaton. Some people think Slaton wont be an every down back in the league. I want a young stud pass rusher to go behind Branch and Watson. Maybe we can talk Suggs into coming back home. LOL

Jonathan Stewart > Steve Slaton. I'm calling it right now. You can just watch him and tell that his game is pro made. My only concern is his durability. He's truly a beast.

I predict we will see the "We should've drafted Adrian Peterson" thread before we see one about McFadden.
why didn't texas get this mcfadden kid? he's pretty good. maybe too good. I just hope the cowboys have a shot at him, slaton, or one of the other top players. Julius Jones is in a contract year.

3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB (which is a smallish DE)? I think that if this team wins 7-8 games, we'll be looking at that OLB/DE, and we'll be in the place to get one. On the other hand, if we're drafting in the top 10 again (which is what I expect), we're not going to be drafting to fill holes, we'll be drafting to fill needs. If we lose 10 games, we're going to need more playmakers, and that puts us squarely in the CB/RB/LT territory.

The 3-4 defense cannot work without above-average CB play.

Unless we get the #1 pick we have no shot at McFadden. Long is being projected as a Top 3 pick. I am for drafting Cason to put opposite Rolle and drafting Steve Slaton in the Round 2. A swing OT in Round 3 who can play LT/RT.

Sign Max Starks & Alan Faneca.

As for DE I would rather have Lawrence Jackson over Chris Long, but I guess Long plays in a 3-4 at UVA.

I dont think we would have enough pie for Starks, Faneca and Dansby

Does anybody have a list of the free agent corners next year?

Starks price tag still depends on if he can recover from a below average season last year.

If Dansby gets extended during the season most of his cap hit will go towards this seasons cap total, of which after signing our rookies we have about 4 Mill maybe a little less and will probably have a little more depending on who gets cut to make the 53 man roster.

Also as of right now and considering some pretty high projected amounts for Dansby, RFA's, and a few other extensions we will still have about 20 Mill next offseason. That is plenty for all 3 of them. Heck 10 Mill is plenty for all 3 depending on the structure of the deals.

Free agent list for all positions looks pretty crappy. Also keep in mind that the list is even before any extensions or franchising happens which will dwindle down the list by about 50% when its all said and done with.

People better be ready for a crappy free agent market in 2008. And consider ourselves lucky that we have an in with Faneca and Starks, thats hoping that Grimm stays another season and doesnt take a HC job next year.

Is it just me, or did we just sign an RT to a contract that makes him the richest OL in NFL history? Are we going to play him at RT one season, and then switch him back to LT next year (should we sign Starks)? How would that make sense? Also, we'd be investing a ton of money in our OL should we sign both those guys--it had better work out, because then all the talk about "building an OL" would be for naught, because we would have purchased 3/5 of our OL in free agency.

Richest if he makes the pro bolw every year he is in the legaue and various other crazy incentives and escalators.

Remember that Gandy signed a 3 year deal but has big bonuses due in year 2 and 3, therefore his deal is really just a 1 year deal. So IMO they will address the OT position once again next offseason either by giving Gandy a new restructured deal, draft, or FA.

In Starks case thats to even say I want the guy which I currently dont. Starks can either play the LT spot that isnt the blind side anymore with Matt, or Brown after his one year of experiance can move to the left side and put Starks on the right.
