I can tell you why. Because we are getting long in the tooth. We need an influx of young talent.

You need to add following options:

lack of pass rush
lack of young talent developement (i guess this can fit under coaching staff but that is too general)
poor FA acquisitions (bunch of past their prime has-beens ex-steelers)
regression of key players (Beanie, DRC, Campbell, Wilson)

Look no further than the Philadelphia Eagles for proof of how big the QB is to a team. While I give some credence to the loss of Boldin, Dansby, and even *gasp* Rolle. Our fortunes were tied directly to the loss of Kurt. I've been watching Cardinal football for 30 years, and Kurt's confidence and leadership took us places we had never treaded. Is this team that much drastically changed outside of the loss of Kurt? No. We were actually supposed to better in some areas. But the whole undoing of our team started when Whis made a One Tree Hill episode out of our training camp. We fell and never recovered. And won't until this team knows who it is and where it's going.

Here are the top five reasons in order of importance from five to one: 5. Coach Whiz has not made the proper adjustments to game plans in regards to current personnel. He should not have added offensive coordinator to his title.

4. Poor defensive coaching. The talent level has not been extremely high (especially at OLB) but there is certainly enough there to not appear as bad as they seem. Bill Davis needs to be fired the second this season ends.

3. Two key leaders (one from each side of the ball) are gone in Boldin and Dansby. Leadership is very important to a team with no real winning identity like the Cards.

2. Kurt Warner who masked many faults of the offense retired and the handling of the QB position afterward was catastrophically mismanaged.

And (Drumroll) 1. The offensive line is AWFUL! The line was never very good, not even during the super bowl run but the offense was adjusted and had players who made up for it's weaknesses. Now, however without those players and NO adjustments being made it's utter ineptitude is on display for all to see.

Of course the main reason for the Cardinals woes is the cheapness of the Bidwills. However I left this reason off the list because nothing can be done to fix that fact and it has been proven that this team can be successful despite them.

Mass exodus of talent, combined with a coaching staff incapable of proper player evaluation and development.

Doesn't talent evaluation fall on the FO? I would think that is their #1 job.

Possibly, I guess that depends on how things are being ran and what promises were made to whom.
This front office is pretty much the same as Green had to work with, yet we found strong talent then. I think this staff takes the coaches inputs and gives them a lot of weight as far as whom we draft or sign off the market.

You don't lose Gandy, Wells, Boldin, Warner, BBerry, Chike, Smith, Los, Rolle, among others off a Super Bowl team & in 2 years expect things to stay the same. This team lost leadership on & off the field along with continuity on the Oline!!!

I think the HC is capable, but the losses of other coaches: Haley, Carthon, among other coaches really downgraded this staff. Other than Wiz, Grimm, Henderson & Spencer our staff hasn't had the greatest of success coaching in the NFL. Throw in a inept GM in Graves & you have problems.

i guess this...which sadly is pretty much every poll option i put up, thats really depressing because you don't fix that in one offseason,
instead of our new stadium and its new revenues and our new look and attitude making winning the new norm around here as i hoped it would be,

i am afraid that 08 might be an anomaly and whiz may be looking for a job after next season and we will end up with another couple of decades of ineptitude before we run into a luck streak like 98' and 08'

maybe we are just destined to have one good season a decade , c'mon 2018:bang:

If we don't get a top flight QB that can play at a high level for 10 years thats exactly what we will get. Great QB's rule this league!!! That is why it is a must the FO does everything they can to get one wearing red & not some old retread.

all of the above, but we would've gone 10-6 in this division if we'd have just kept Warner.

The FO does deserve credit for an amazing 2010 draft, I know it's early but Dan Williams and Daryl Washington were amazing pick ups. Schofield, Roberts and Skelton may all turn out to be good in the future. This one might end up being as good as 2004.

The loss of Warner, Boldin, Berry, and Dansby coupled with a reduction of payroll (in an uncapped year) of some $20 million.

Ownership was looking to tread water this year banking on The Whis & Co. to work some magic that, unfortunately, never happened.

The Cards are rebuilding when ownership/FO should have been retooling IMHO.

I agree this draft class look promising but isn't the idea to add talent to the team and not just replace caused by letting you best players walk. Look at this team if they added those players to a team still having Dansby, Boldin, even Gandy and ML.

1.) The inability of this coaching staff to evaluate and utilize the talent it has. Never have I seen a team play against its strengths more than this team.

1a.) The inability of this coaching staff to develop game plans, develop schemes and make adjustments during the games to help the team be successful.

2.) The stubbornness of this coaching staff to not put the best play makers on the field even if they are rookies.

3.) The loss of Warner has been so pronounced it is difficult to comprehend just how much he meant to the winning efforts of this team the past 3 years.

4.) The loss of leadership and the lack of other players NOT stepping up to replace that leadership. I agree Boldin and Dansby added the quality of leadership to this team. Every week a player is quoted in some way shape or form as saying "at halftime we realized the other team was taking it to us and we decided we needed to step it up". Where in the world were their heads before the game? An absolute lack of pride among the players.

Everything except the loss of Leinart and the loss of Rolle. We need an OC and a new DC.
