(and yes he is still one of the best players)

What exactly do you base this on. Dont look at his past look at the Edge playing today and tell me how you can say this?

Maybe best player was a stretch :) But honestly Shane, he really hasn't played that bad in the first few games. The run blocking was hit or miss early, but he was hard to bring down and ran well when he had the holes. Pretty much looked like the Edge from last year. Serviceable and capable. I don't for a moment disagree that T.H. is looking awesome, and I'm very excited to see more of him over the next few weeks, I'm just saying I think we'll need Edge again in some capacity again this season. Arrington getting more touches is not exactly an idea I'm enamored with.

They don't get it Philly, they think TH is the end of all our running problems. A surprise debut against a bad team and people act like we have SJ or MB all of a sudden. I agree its not good to have one of the most liked, better players on the sideline pissed off, this is not the end of this you can count on it. Edge isn't the guy to just sit back and take it without saying anything and who can blame him it was complete crap that he didn't get ANY carries. Dumb move by Whiz that very well could end up being a problem now. It wouldn't have been an issue to find a few 6-8 carries for Edge and have the team win together, instead you now have created a rift that will surely surface in the media.

Why do you think it would be any better if he got 6 carries? You think a guy who led the NFL in touches one year with the Colts and still complained he wanted the ball more, is going to be happy he got 6 carries in a blowout win?

Edge wants to be the man, he readily admits that, he's not a guy who's going to be content with a few carries. I thought he handled it quite well, I don't see the steaming on the sidelines stuff I saw the guy smiling and high fiving Hightower and talking to both JJ and TH like he was trying to help them. I'm sure he's not happy, but I'm also sure he knew before the game what was going on, I don't think Whiz submarined him here I think he told him early in the week what was going to happen.

I also think Edge will play a role before the year is up.

But you take a guy with his career and give him a few charity carries and I'm personally betting it makes him angry.

Disagree Russ, he was pissed off on the sideline and was not expecting not to play or why bother even coming out dressed. He has already made some pretty hostile comments since the game saying its personal, he is pissed off at Whiz and I am telling you its not good for a team thats finally coming around. It was a mistake not giving him any carries, you could have easily gave him some and then just said TH is working better for us today and that could have been accepted much easier than the crap Whiz pulled. Now you have a very well like and respected player on the team thats going to be bad mouthing the team, well we have that already in Boldin so now I guess your going to have a few of them....great!

Not saying you're wrong but can you point me to these hostile comments, I'm not in Arizona and I haven't seen him say he's pissed at Whiz, just that he wants to play.

As for why I think he knew before the game, I say that because I listened to the halftime show on Sirius radio and Hank Kuhlmann, Rob Moore et all they all knew and they all said it had been discussed during the week that Hightower and JJ were 1 and 2 in this game. Moore even said that he didn't expect to see Edge get a lot of work, even if the game got out of hand, because he didn't think Edge was the type of player who'd be happy with a few carries he wants to be the man.

This isn't the first time in NFL history a great player has played past his prime and found himself replaced by a younger player.

It certainly can be an issue if Edge decided to make it one but at least so far I'm not aware he has, if he has said some stuff can someone point me to it.

In 1993 the Cards replaced a "name" RB, first round pick Garrison Hearst, with 4th round pick Ron Moore from little Pittsburgh State. Also on the team was return man-third down back Johnny Bailey who had a punt return for a TD. Moore rushed for 1000 yards and the Cards finished the second half of the season 5-3.

Eerily similar to 2008.

I'd take that finish too.

How did the Cards finish that year? Playoffs? Yeah a little different situation when your in first and probably in last with no pressure to even win.

So which carries do you take away from TH to give to Edge? Maybe the one where he had the 30 yard TD? Or the one ones where he gained 17,18,17, and 19 yards? How many would Edge have gained on those? No more than 5 most likely.

4 carries in one game over 15 yards. Edge averages about 3-4 per season and hasent had one over 27 yards in 3.5 years here.

Listen we understand your undying devotion to Edge and your love for the back that he USED to be. Simple fact is he isnt that back anymore no even close and he has zero bust. Even the media(urban specifically) is commenting about how many yards he leaves on the field due to lack of speed and burst.

Tim deserves to start and he proved it. Will we need to see consistency? Absolutely. But there i sno doubt that he needs 95% of the carries for this team.

Whiz said in his presser last week that the betrer players will play.Maybe he just decided that Hightower was finally the better player. Plus, he should only get better with more playing time.

All Speculation of course, but I think it is that simple... Good coach, swift and immediate decisions. Pause to think or comment and you will be on the bench. I don't think he is out, Edge that is, but the ball may be in his court. In my opinion this is one huge difference than what we have had in recent years in a coach. Right or wrong he makes up his mind and goes with it. So far this year, for the most part, it seems to be working...
