Boys Basketball Players of the Year: Area's best led deep postseason runs

AJ Charpentier, Jacksonville, baseball​

The junior pitcher fanned 10 batters, walked two and threw a one-hit shutout as the host Crimsons notched a 2-0 Central State Eight Conference win over Lincoln on Thursday.

Karsyn Jacoby, Athens, girls soccer​

The senior reached 100 career goals and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Decatur Unity Christian on Thursday. She leads the Warriors (6-1) with 20 goals and seven assists already this season.

Briley Kirby, Hillsboro, softball​

The sophomore hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Hiltoppers a 5-4 walk-off win against Taylorville on Tuesday. Kirby was 4-for-4.

Rylann Law, Chatham Glenwood, girls soccer​

The senior recorded a hat trick in a 9-0 win over Mount Zion. Her 84 career goals set a new school record previously held by Alaree Gunville dating back to 2001.

Madisen Wurth, Lincoln, softball​

The starting pitcher struck out 11, walked none and allowed just three hits in Lincoln’s 3-2 home victory over Jacksonville on Thursday.
