Deion Sanders is staying around for a quite a bit longer, and Colorado fans are hyped. It was announced Friday morning that the third-year Colorado head coach is signing a five-year, $54 million contract extension.

The news follows offseason interest from the Dallas Cowboys, but as Coach Prime has repeatedly said, he is at home in Boulder.

Sanders has transformed Colorado football into a nationally recognized program after the team went 1-11 the year before he took over. A 9-4 season last year, plus having the Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter playing both sides of the ball, brought even more eyes to the program.

With Sanders locked in until 2029, the sky is the limit for Colorado football, which is now paying its head coach a salary that is comparable to that of a national championship contender.

Buffs fans everywhere chimed in on social media to celebrate the news, with many seemingly grateful that the university's administration finally stepped up to the plate to keep their top head coach in years in the building. Others wanted immediate revenge on all of the doubters who said Sanders would be out after one successful year.

Here are the best reactions to Deion Sanders' massive extension with the Colorado Buffaloes.

Coach Prime will be paid handsomely

2027: $11M
2028: $11M
2029: $12M#cubuffs

Oh, how the times have changed

Colorado hired Deion Sanders in 2023 without even having the money to pay him.

Their AD said: “We don’t have the money yet, but I know we'll have it."

Now, the Buffs have made Prime one of college football's highest-paid coaches with a $54M extension.

The Cowboys are no longer

Way back in January, when there was whole lotta buzz about the Cowboys, told y'all fine peeps Deion Sanders wasn't going anywhere.
Well, it took longer than I anticipated ... and longer than Rick George wanted, I'm quite certain.
But Prime signed that contract extension.
