Not sure if you guys know this stuff already, but I get a weekly email from Draftsharks.com and they are a pretty reliable source for little insights for fantasy football.
Anyways, here is two tidbits out of my latest email about the Cards:
** The Arizona Cardinals still need a veteran receiver and they are close
to a deal with ex-Chicago Bear pass-catcher Marcus Robinson. The
six-year veteran has 187 career catches for 2,695 yards and 20 touchdowns.
His 2001 campaign was cut short when he blew out his knee, and with an
injection of young receivers in Chicago, his playing time diminished
during the 2002 season as he posted only 21 catches for 244 yards, an 11.6
average, and 3 touchdowns. “I think the Bears were going in a different
direction for the most part,” offered Robinson. “Marty Booker had such a
great year the year before and that was their guy. Then they had Dez
White, a young guy, and David Terrell, who they drafted in the first
round, and I think they were definitely looking to move those young guys
ahead.” Robinson expects to receive a one-year deal and is just eager for
the opportunity to get out on the playing field to showcase his talents.
** The Arizona Cardinals continued their weekend of puzzling moves when the
team declined a trade with New Orleans for DL Norman Hand. The Saints
wanted to trade player-for-player and wanted Thomas Jones in return. Red
Birds GM Rod Graves nixed the deal and is adamant that the club will not
simply give Jones away for a low-round draft pick. “We were not going to
give Thomas Jones away,” Graves said. “We still feel he has some value.
To give Thomas Jones up for a sixth- or seventh-round pick, to be honest
with you, I would rather cut him.” Arizona wants to trade Jones this week
thus reducing a potential distraction when their mini-camp opens on
Friday. “We’re either going to trade Thomas or let him go,” Graves said.
