Some good news for next season...

OK, as the season winds down and many of us have lost interest, here are some bright spots to look forward to building on next year.

1.) Cahill & McCarthy have combined for a 2.58 era over their past 80 IP

2.) Miggy is batting .274 over his last 241 AB's and .295 since coming off the DL

3.) Matt Davidson has a .467 SLG% with 3 HR and 11 RBI in 60 AB's (It's a small sample size, but that's on pace for a 30 HR and 110 RBI in a 600 AB season)

4.) Chris Owings is batting .316 with a .409 OBP in 38 AB's

5.) Bradley & Skaggs up to the bigs

6.) Heath Bell is in the last year of a bad contract

How is having Bell on the team with that contract next year good news? Only good news is if some sucker trades for him this off-season.

Also, I would love to see Owings get a fair shot at short but Didi is not going anywhere as long as Towers is in charge. I could see Towers trading Owings in the off-season because he would use the excuse they already have the next Derek Jeter at short and they needed more bullpen pitchers.
