We'll have to wait for information about the wings like Alexander, Rush, Douglas Roberts, Batum, and Budinger. Other missing players include Westbrook, Koufos, Randolph, and Greeen.

Entire NBA Pre-Draft Camp Measurements, Combine Results Releasedby: DraftExpress June 3, 2008Update: We've manually compiled all the data.

This year's info is right here.

Compare the players with year's past here.

Here are some of the most interesting results. Keep in mind that this is hardly the holy grail in regards to talent evaluation. But people definitely love to look, which is why we rushed out the first results.

Michael Beasley measured at 6-7 without shoes, and 6-8 ¼ with. His wingspan in 7-0 ¼ and his standing reach is 8-11. He did fairly well in the combine, lifting the 185 bar 19 times, jumping 35 inches on the max vert, but measuring a slightly high body fat at 7.7%

Derrick Rose came out a bit shorter than advertised, at just 6-1 ½ in shoes and 6-2 ½ in. He has a 6-8 wingspan, a 40 inch vertical and ran the 3/4 court sprint very fast at 3.05.

Brook Lopez is a legit 7-footer in shoes. He also has a phenomenal 7-5 ½ wingspan and an outrageous 9-5 standing reach. He did not do very well at all in the combine though, jumping just 30 inches in the max vert and coming dead last in the lane agility drill at 12.77.

Jerryd Bayless is a legit 6-3 in shoes, and he has expected has a very poor wingspan at 6-3 ½. He did well in the combine, though, jumping 38 inches, lifting the 185 bar 10 times, running 11.26 in the lane agility drills, and sprinting ¾ court in 3.07 seconds.

Kevin Love measured out reasonably well—6-9 ½ in shoes (6-7 ¾ without), with a 6-11 ¼ wingspan and an 8-10 standing reach. His body fat is still very high at 12.9%, but in the combine he jumped 35 inches, lifted the 185 bar 18 times, and ran very well (11.17, 3.22)

O.J. Mayo is 6-3 ¼ without shoes, 6-4 ½ with, with a 6-6 wingspan and 8-3 standing reach. He had the second best vertical leap at 41 inches and ran 11.04 and 3.14.

Eric Gordon is 6-3 ¼ in shoes, with a terrific 6-9 wingspan. He jumped 40 inches, lifted the bar 15 times, and ran 10.81 and 3.01. He plays like a great athlete, and tested out well too.

Anthony Randolph is 6-10 ¼ in shoes, with a freakish 7-3 wingspan and 9-1 standing reach. He is skinny as expected at 4.7% body fat, jumped 35 inches on the max vert, and ran just OK at 11.86 and 3.26.

DeAndre Jordan came in an inch short at 6-11, but has an outrageous 7-6 wingspan and 9-5 ½ standing reach that more than compensates. He jumped poorly at 30.5 inches, lifted the bar 8 times, and ran the drills in 12.3 and 3.27 seconds.

The biggest wingspan: John Riek at 7-8 ¾. His standing reach was N/A. Probably too long to believe. We’re told its 9-10, and certainly believe that.
Biggest standing reach: JaVale McGee- 9-6 ½.

Lightest Player: Mike Taylor- 166 pounds, followed by D.J. Augustin at 171.
Heaviest Player: Kentrell Gransberry- 290 pounds
Lowest Body Fat: Lester Hudson- 3.4%
Highest Body Fat: Kentrell Gransberry -17.4% body fat
Best no-step vertical: Patrick Ewing- 35 inches
Best Max-Step Vertical: O.J. Mayo- 42 inches (tied with Ewing)
Bench Press: Josh Duncan 26 reps
Fastest Lane Agility: Sonny Weems- 10.58 seconds
Fastest ¾ Court Sprint: Sonny Weems- 2.96, (Joe Alexander 2.99)

Others:

Joey Dorsey measured in at only 6’6.25 without shoes, and 6’7.25 with shoes, but had a +7.5 wingspan and managed a very respectable 19 reps off 185 on the bench.

DeVon Hardin stands 6’10.75 in shoes with a 7’3 wingspan, he had 20 reps on the bench and recorded a 32” max vertical leap.
Josh Duncan put up 26 reps of 185 on the bench, recorded a 32” max vertical leap, is 6’8 without shoes, and recorded a body far percentage of only 5.4%.

Patrick Ewing Jr. recorded the highest max vertical leap on the day recording 42”, but struggled on the bench, finishing with only 2 reps. His is 9.4% body fat was surprising for a player of his build as well. At only 6’6 without shoes, he’s between positions with his measurables and game very much in conflict.

Richard Hendrix tested out very well. He is a hair under 6-9 in shoes, has a 7-3 wingspan, a 9-0 standing reach, and ran a 10.62 and 3.27. He jumped just 28 inches in the max vert.

How about putting this in the Draft thread or the beasley thread about measurements?

Your thread orgy is quite peculiar as of late Mr. Irish.

I am shocked at the difference between Gordon's and Bayless' wingspans.

I am shocked that kevin love appears to run nearly as well as OJ Mayo and has dwane wade hops(35" vert). I suspect these numbers may not all be 100% effort(for mayo). Eric Gordon looks to be the most athletic of the bunch, and with that wingspan and hops he will play bigger than 6'4".

Kevin Love is very intriguing... we all know he KNOWS how to play basketball.... and thought his physical attributes will hinder him, but the more I think of it... I think he has a great chance of translating well into the NBA... 35 inch vertical?? 6'9 with shoes..

He can be a Barkley/Duncan hybrid type... I mean he is the average height between the 2, athletically, I thought he was below Duncan, but it sounds like with a bit of hard summer training, he can be more athletic than Duncan but not as much as Barkley...

Im not comparing talent wise, but just "mold" wise... Love is a good rebounder already like both Duncan and Barkley, knows the game, like both Duncan and Barkley, knows how to use foot work and body rather than athletism, Barkley knew how to use both his size (or lack of) and Duncan has best positioning in the game today...

I'm liking his potential....

Love will be nothing more than a bench player in this league. Very crazy talk to compare him Duncan or Barkley.

or he might be one of the player who catches a break in a system like Nash.

So.... he's a bench player that if selected by the right team could be a 2 time MVP?

No.:p

He could flourish in a good system. How well can Nash play in a half-court team?

Kevin is still really hard to project. During the season Don MacLean who does UCLA on radio and sometimes tv kept talking about how often Kevin got his shot blocked. He was quick to point out that Kevin was doubled all year, that he takes a lot of shots in the paint, and that he's not one of those guys who is so afraid of getting blocked that he completely alters the shot and thus has no chance of making it, but he said it concerns me that at the next level he'll be unable to get his shot off.

But that was Love that was 15 pounds heavier, on a roster that had a PF(Luc) that nobody guarded. IN the NBA he won't be doubled and he's clearly improved his athleticism. He's a terrific passer, he can shoot, and his defense got better and better during the season as he got into better shape and adjusted to the UCLA system defensively.

I still think possibly going 3rd is too high for him but I could see him going as high as 5th and justifying the pick he seems to be physically coming into his own he's both eating better and working out hard, and losing some of his baby fat. It's an intriguing combo for a kid with such obvious basketball skills.

Love to me is a high risk, high reward kind of guy. there are countless players who have been drafted where people said "if he would only get into better shape he'd be amazing". Some do get into shape, and others don't. love would be such a better player if he would just stay in college another year. he could develop a little more offensively, but more importantly defensively. with his natural strength, he could really be a force on defense if developed properly.

I wonder how the body fat is measured.
Because I always heard that a 7% bodyfat is extremely low (body builder type), and 10% is low. With 3% like George Hill or Lester Hudson you are sick or dead.

Hmm, JaVale McGee scored better than Jordan in every category. Taller, better reach, jumps higher, lower body fat and faster (slightly faster in the full court, slightly slower in lane agility).

His standing reach is 2.5 inches higher than Oden's who was the longest player in last year's draft.

McGee's fundamentals are better too. The big question about him is motivation.

I would have a hard time passing McGee if he is available. There is just way too much upside as far as physical tools, fundamentals, and genetics. I could see him develop into a Camby type of player easily under the right coaching.

I've enjoyed a number of your posts lately Irish, keep it up.

Oh totally agree but we all knew Kevin was one and done there was never any way he was coming back unless he got hurt before the draft.

My concern on Kevin has always been his release point, when he is inside he has a very low release, it's ok in HS but in college he got rejected a lot because he releases the ball so low. Coaches worked wtih him on a half hook that helped, and in the A&M game he made 2 huge fadeaways but he never really consistently was able to go up over big guys. Now that he's in better shape maybe he can.

You have to remember Love is 19 and he's been the best player on the court 95% of his career when overweight so he's never had to get in great shape. He's in much better shape now and I suspect without having to deal with college classes and such he'll keep himself in better shape. He's never going to have a body like Westbrook but I don't think he's the next Oliver Miller.

I just worry that he'll have trouble finishing inside in the NBA because of that low release.

I agree, 3% is very unhealthy, even 5% is probably too little to protect the internal organs. Guys with that low body fat wont be able to take a hit to the midsection. Immersion is the only accurate way to determine body fat, bioimpedance and caliper measurement methods are just too high in error. Bioimpedance depends skin temp and ambient room temp, as well as hydration and water distribution. I suspect its bioimpedance that is used, and that could be a problem if it is used on athletes that have exerted themselves(skin temp changes alot).

Thanks. Here is a link to the entire list:

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/?year=2008&sort2=ASC&draft=0&sort=

Brandan Rush was not measured.

A couple of guys I've been looking at for the second round include Othello Hunder who is 6'6.5" in socks, but has a 9'1.5" standing reach which ties him for 7th and a verticle of 34.5. His 3/4 court sprint was middle of the pack at 3.18 which is decent for bigs. For example, Donte Green was at 3.2, Beasley at 3.24, McGee at 3.25, Randolph at 3.26, and Jordan at 3.27..

Brian Roberts is not very long, 6'0.5" with a standing reach of 7'11", but has good lift with a max verticle of 36.5 and ranked 4th fastest in the 3/4 court sprint at 3.05 - faster than Augustine, Westbrook and Bayless.
-----------------------------------------------------
Back to the first round, Joe Alexander certainly tested well. He ran the scond fast 3/4 court sprint at 2.99; tied for 8th in max verticle at 38.5, and showed decent (but no exceptional size) at 6"7.5' in socks and 8'10" standing reach and 220 pounds. He did an amazing 24 bench presses. He's not an outside shooter at this point which is why he may drop to the mid first round. He projects as smallish PF, but with his strength could be successful on the inside.

Alexander's size is very camparable to that of Darnell Arthur who is projecte at PF, but Arthur is only 6'7.5" 8'11" standing reach and 213 lbs with max vrticle of 30.0. I'd expect his stock will drop since he's not viewed as having SF skills.
