Few things I heard on radio today. Boldin was on Sirius, says he and Larry compete against each other in camp, then against defenses on Sundays. Says they openly discuss trying to be the best tandem in the league. Said Rolle was making big plays on the field today. Definetly looked 100%. Said Matts business is his business. None of the team are down on him, spoke pretty highly of him from his work so far with him. Said Matts been good at audibles and changing plays at the line, said even some vets he played with couldn't do that. Said his goal is the playoffs and to win the division believes they do have the talent.

Darren Urban said he doesn't put much into camp but Milton Brown looked like crap, same for Pope trying to block. Said the standouts were Fitz and Rolle.

I have a feeling Rolle is going to have a killer season. I thought he was the top player in last years draft.

I finally bit the bullet and decided to give my wife the XM radio and buy a SIRIUS unit with some birthday money (rather than a Soundbridge Internet Radio streamer).

Now that I have SIRIUS (with NFL Network predialed to #1 of course) how do I find out when Cardinal players and coaches are scheduled to appear on SIRIUS?

It's sort of a crap shoot. I know Karlos Dansby is on the weekend show weekly. They have him listed on the Sirius site. Sometimes the Cards website is good at having a replay of the interview, but that's not consistant either. I wish they would have a schedule as well, but I don't think they line up the interviews until the day of.

I originally bought XM because it had exclusive coverage of MLB live games and I could hear Mike Shannon broadcast Cardinal baseball (whereas I could always catch the AZ Cardinal games on DirecTV and Internet radio).

I then became fascinated by the TIVO-like newer generation of receivers which allow you to record up to 50 hours of content on the unit and explored various options - and decided to explore all options. I missed having NFL Football 24/7 on SIRIUS (particularly during offseason). (I also picked up the distressing rumor that XM will lose MLB exclusivity in 8 months).

So I opted for SIRIUS. But - to have my cake and eat it too - I'm "giving" my XM unit and subscription to the missus for her car. So if I want to still catch a MLB Cardinal radio broadcast, I can still do it.

Regarding one vs. the other. SIRIUS gives you Howard Stern and the NFL. XM gives you MLB. The SIRIUS jazz programming tends to use NYC/NJ based DJ's (which I can pick up on local FM. XM jazz programming tends to use more nationally-oriented announcers.

XM sticks with syndicated sportstalk programming on ESPNews, ESPN Radio, FoxSports Radio and Sporting News Radio (which runs other programming 50% of the time). SIRIUS has a few "orginal" sportstalk program along with ESPN Radio.

XM has a bevy of news/talk programs - including MSNBC. So does SIRIUS. Where they seem to differ is SIRIUS doesn't have MSNBC but has much better variety of NPR and international news coverage plus C-Span Radio.

Since I only activitated SIRIUS a couple of days ago, I can't tell you which comparable programming is "better." It's really more about which service represents the best "fit" for each listener.

Prediction - One service (I don't know which) will absorb the other within 12 - 18 months.
