Something that caught my eye while watching the game as to the general nonverbal demeanor of both teams.
Up until maybe the very end of the game it appeared there was a world of differences in the general attitudes of both teams.

The Cards looked "up", and everyone generally appeared upbeat, and supportive of one another. There didn't seem to be any sort of dissension
or problems at all. Very workmanship oriented, yet positive too. I liked what I saw.

On the Texans side, on the other hand, I didn't get that same feeling. It appeared to me that there was a little general "tension" pervading the whole team. As if maybe not everyone there is all on the same page. Too much constant awareness of "is anyone watching me", an almost nervousness about it. The commraderie shown on the Cards side just wasn't there. Are there indeed some rumblings going on beneath the surface there in Kubiak land?

I continue to be impressed with Whis and the job he's doing.

A couple of other random thoughts all the way:

I watched the game on the NFL channel. Watching the 2nd half, with the Houston feed, was exasperating for me.
I'm going to refrain from dragging out any stale old Texan jokes, but man, I am just not a fan of that old southern good 'ol boy redneck mentality.
Some of the Arizona TV coverage, wasn't exactly award winning, but it was sure incredibly better than that garbage out of Houston. I really wonder if "all them" down there actually understand the difference between football, NASCAR, and wrestling. They kept interupting their NASCAR-like up close and personal sideline interviews like they do at wrestling matches too, with an occasional cut to the game.

And then the local commercials. I kid you not, the first an ad for a sled you can pull, I guess with your tractor or modified pickup truck, that will chew up rocks and dirt and "level the ground" out to like make a dirt road or big level field of dirt. Then later, not to be outdone, another one, this an ad for a machine that will chew up trees and brush and make shavings out of them. So this is how to appeal to the buck of the buckeroos in Texas on a Football Saturday afternoon? Not even a beer or truck commercial?
But enough about the intellect in Texas, I don't want to get political here.

PS....I think Shane Boyd should be cut. I think he still might be able to play in the NFL, but this is not the time or place for him. As long as Korrodi has any potential then get him on the practice squad and just go with Matt and Kurt.
I feel Korrodi could be a decent long term backup for Matt. He's almost a clone of him, and thats what I think the ideal is here. He even looks a little like Matt on the field, so if he's ever needed, down the road, he can seamlessly take over the QB'ing.
Boyd is athletic, but his passing skills don't jump out at me. And that is not a good fit here. Our backup needs to be as much like Matt as possible, be a good passer and custodian, and not a big risk taker.
I think it best for all, that they just let Boyd go and try and catch on somewhere else where his skills would be better used.
And one last item:
I couldn't help but think for a moment when Korrodi came in and threw that atrocius interception, that maybe Whis had instructed him to do that, to better insure getting him past waivers to the practice squad. He wouldn't do that....

would he?

3rd String QB

I can't get too excited about our third string QB, Shane Boyd. Definitely not a QB of the future but he'll earn his keep in preparing for Alex Smith as a roll out QB. Because the team doesn't want to play KW behind the 2nd team OL, Boyd probably gets more reps than most 3rd stringers, but injuries aside he'll not play a regular season down. But since we do go up against a few mobile signal callers, he should help the team prepare. Either way the team has a lot more worries than the 3rd QB. JMO.

Fantastic work, everyone. I'll be giving a little something extra to the Fraternal Order of Internet Police this year.

We we all know the Patriots are going to suck badly this year.

Since we only got to watch our 1st team for basically one quarter there is not a lot to be gleamed from this game except for coaches who are trying to figure out who to keep. If you got a guy like Boyd in there for 2 quarters how are you really going to evaluate receivers, runners, etc.

Is there any correlation what so ever between games won in preseason and game won in the regular season? I really do not know other than creating a winning attitude does not hurt. I guess if you have a strong 2nd and 3rd string you would tend to win more games. We must not have a very good 2nd and 3rd team at this point. I think we have one of the best backup QB's in the NFL which is very comforting. I think Leinhart will do his job and our receivers will do theirs. The TE is still a mystery. The defense looked very bad to me overall but then we only saw them for one quarter. I do not see our regular runners busting their butts as they do not want to get injured. Only the guys trying to make the team are going to go crazy. At this point I do not know how good or how bad we are. My guess is we are going to have problems with our defense and will need to outscore other teams to win.

Tough for Cardinal fans to bash Texans or Cowboys these days:

Dallas 24 AZ 7
Dallas 34 AZ 13
Dallas 27 AZ 10

Texans 30 AZ 19

Plus Saturday.
