This from ESPN: I'd say we're the PRIME CANDIDATE to be trade up partners with Detroit, since they've become real aggressive in FA. The question beckons, do we want to deal with them or accept whoever's there at #5 (very probobly a very good talent) and draft for need a little later. With Grimm the OL coach, I think that's the better option, JMHO>

From ESPN:
The Lions are giving the appearance that they might be willing to trade the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. Sure, they could sit at No. 2 and take left tackle Joe Thomas from Wisconsin. They could take running back Adrian Peterson. With Kevin Jones coming off a serious foot injury, that's not a bad option. But they've picked up halfback Tatum Bell and right tackle George Foster, so that could change their draft plans. They also are close to getting Bucs free agent defensive end Dewayne White signed. Wide receiver Kevin Curtis left Minnesota on Saturday and flew to Detroit. He might be signed by Sunday. There is a growing chance the Lions might trade out of the second spot in the draft and pick up more draft choices. They have four fifth-rounders and 10 total choices.

6. So much for Daniel Snyder not being a big player in free agency. The Redskins signed middle linebacker London Fletcher-Baker and cornerback Fred Smoot to five-year deals. They are talking to cornerback Travis Fisher. Offensive lineman Leonard Davis is deciding between the Cowboys and Redskins. Davis pulled an interesting move. He asked Jerry Jones for a massive amount of guarantees in his contract. When he didn't get them, he left for Snyder's private plane and a trip to Washington. Don't you get the feeling he's going to end up with the Redskins?

Here's some more: More division rivals improve and set to improve:

Hamlin, Landry anyone?

Drew Bennett's six-year, $30 million deal could put pressure on the Rams to release Isaac Bruce, but Bennett doesn't think that is going to happen. He believes he will work well with Torry Holt and Bruce. The Rams want a bigger receiver for the red zone. The 6-5 Bennett, who is sneaky fast, is a good fit. Plus, he has great hands. Plus, the Rams still have the cap room to keep Bruce if they want.

A year ago, the Seahawks didn't want to make Steve Hutchinson a $7 million a year guard and they lost him to Minnesota. Now, they can't even buy a $7 million guard when he's on the market. Dielman turned down close to $7 million a year from the Seahawks to return to San Diego. The Seahawks were furious. Watch for them to be extra aggressive trying to sign Kerney or tight end Daniel Graham. They could even sign both of them.

If you want a huge contract that you probably don't really deserve, go knock on Snyders door. I wonder if Big can fit inside a private jet. They probably have to send luggage on a seperate flight so the plane can get airborne.

OH GOD NO! Please don't trade up to the 2 spot. If they do they better take AP. JMHO, but oh man really if they do that can this FO screw up this offseason any more?

Here is an interesting draft scenario from East Coast Sports:

28. Arizona Cardinals TRADE (from New England) - FS Reggie Nelson (Florida)...Projected Trade...The Pats trade down and out of this pick because some of the prospects that they are targeting for their system carry second to fourth round grades...a Safety if one of the Cards needs and since Nelson has fallen through the cracks the Cards move up to get him....the Patriots receive the Cardinals second and fourth round picks in '07 plus their 3rd round pick in 2008.

Realistic scenario, wrong player.

My guess. Graves takes BPA at #5. If Thomas doesn't fall to #5, then Graves moves up into the bottom 1st and drafts LT Ugoh.

From the first day the new coaching staff made it clear, that free agency were to add depth to the team. The draft were to build up the team.

With all our needs I cannot really see us trading up and loosing some picks.

Relying on some other team's possible trading plans to scope out your own team's draft is a lesson in futility and will only make you bite your lips off.

Ugho is a guard. Staley is the third-best tackle prospect in this class, but he probably won't be able to play right away.

I am a big Staley fan, I hope we can get him somehow. You might be right by the way on his ability to step on the field right away at the top level, but he is going to be a good one.

He is undersized and so is Joe Thomas.

:D

Indeed. Both of them are going to have to put on weight at the next level. What's interested about Staley at least is that he's from a small school, but he also is a converted Tight End, similar to Jason Peters, who has turned into a pretty solid player in Buffalo.

I lean pretty heavily on the scouting reports on TheHuddleReport.com, and reading them makes me very nervous if we're looking to get help at LT only from the draft. Four of their Top 6 OT prospected are listed as better options at Guard at the next level. The only guys that their scout seems to like at OT are Thomas and Staley; he likes everyone else at guard.

You and me both buddy. Thomas and Nelson are probably my two favorite players in this draft. I'm not sure why Nelson seems to be slipping, but I hope if puts us in position to get him.

As for Thomas, I'm one of the few who would trade up for him. I truly believe that once you get him, you can cross off the LT spot for 10 to 15 years.
