Seriously. Not a rant. What would you do moving forward?
Honestly, every road I go down there’s a roadblock.
Can we move on from Kyler?
If yes, then who? A free agent? Who?
Draft? Is there a rookie qb that we could plug in and ride with like Bo Nix? But if we draft one in the first round there goes our pass rusher we need or does that come through free agency?
Do we stick with Kyler because Petzing is the problem? So was Kliff, right.
Is Petzing the problem?

Things seem to be on the upswing coming into this season. MHJ was going to solidify the wr room.
Kyler was 100% healthy with a full year of learning this offense.
Our running game was awesome.

Now I feel we are stuck in quicksand and years from reaching the playoffs.

I know it’s early with two games left but I want to see some dynamic moves. But what?

Unfortunately, there is no-good short-term solution. Due to KM contract, we are stuck with him for the next two years. All we can do is draft better players and improve the overall talent level of the team. let the young guys play to see what we have, including Tune. Maybe he will be the next Brock Purdy.

I thought about this as well, but when I plug one hole, three more open. It’s the Cards way. The dam is always leaking. At a minimum we are stuck with KM one more year because of cap hit. I would draft a QB in 2026 for sure but I am also at a true loss for putting words to paper outlining a fix for this team because I just think the history of the cards tells us it can’t be fixed

Many disagree, although it won't be easy.

Our current timeline is bleak. Considering the contract, our best bet is to just keep building the team around Kyler, when we get to a point we can change QBs at least that QB will join a good roster.

It’s crazy to think this but Justin Fields stats this year are very comparable to Kyler’s albeit for just 5 games. But he had the Steelers at 5-1. He’s just as dynamic of a runner perhaps more so. But Fields could fill the gap while we add to the defense in a major way.

The Steelers are built much like us. They want to run the ball and play defense.

We could get something for Kyler, take the cap hit and not break the bank with Fields. He’s a better option than guys like Minshew, Lance, Flacco or Mariotta.

I just think staying with Murray relates to something someone once said about doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

Trade kyler...for 2026 assets so we can get a first.
Sign Sam Darnold for 3 years 118m... gotta overpay a bit because he will want 5 years.
Draft pass rusher and DT in the first 2 rounds 2025....plus others
Draft QB in first round 2026,..prototype,...no less than 6'3
Sit rookie behind Darnold for a year or two...the green bay treatment...this way he is ready when called upon,...use him as backup if Darnold gets hurt or to close out garbage time.

Win 8 Super Bowls, totally dominate the 2030's

I think Fields is a cheaper option that keeps the running ability in place. It would allow us to really add defense through free agency.
I think Darnold is helped drastically with talent. His lack of mobility might be a liability here.
Plus convincing Bidwill to 118m might be a tough sell.

Petzings offense is not designed for the qb to run. We need a pocket passer or we will just start having the same issues with fields we have with kyler

Draft and acquire more talent, I am not fooled just because our coaches schemed as far as they could go and overachieved. Might be touching the pistol on my hip but not about to draw on them just yet lol

Darnold is actually a good athlete.

I just don't want to be the team that gives him 40 million off one good year. we're talking about a guy who a year ago surprised everyone when he beat out Trey Lance as the backup QB in San Francisco, and now he's an MVP candidate?

Maybe it's legit but I don't want to be the team that finds out he's not nearly as good without their coach and Jefferson, Addison and company being open all the time.

He wasn't even going to be the Vikings starter this year they were going with McCarthy until he hurt the knee

I really have little faith left in Kyler at this point, I now expect Kyler to make a boneheaded play on every possession, where as in the past I felt like he was gonna lead us down the field. To answer your question, considering the money invested in him, the Cardinals brass will try & get him more weapons, if that season (next) doesn't work out & we miss the playoffs again, they will look to move on from him.

Appreciate your input. But do you think guys like Rudolph or Mariotta would be better?
There isn’t much out there. Fields was run out of Chicago and we are seeing he wasn’t the problem. Could he be resurrected like Mayfield or Darnold?

But from everything I’ve read here, moving on from him now is cheaper than 2026. If we are going to move on it appears now is better than later.

Let's do this. Invest in the DL and get a pass rusher, draft or free agency. Tweak the coaching staff and get rid of Terrell as the one coaching the WRs and the one advising Kyler on the sidelines... and then in the fourth RD get a WR with legit speed to stretch the field, and see what happens :)

I was hoping we had a least one more week before we started this conversation. But alas….
Kyler just isn't cutting it, the fact this is his 6th season & he's still making boneheaded decisions tells me all I need to know, he'll never learn & is what he is. At some point the FO needs to start trying to see what they can get for him.

All of that sounds great but doesn't solve the Kyler problem.
