I am in no way saying we didn't stink we did but there is one thing to keep in mind.

The Vikings happen to scrimage against KC almost all training camp they hold a joint one.

This is extremely advantageous at least in the first game since they have already been going against another team in practice.

Moss can light anyone up at will when he really wants to and I am sure that he did because of last year so that in itself dosen't bother me.

It is entirely possible that is a major reason they looked more polished than we did.

Going against your own players isn't much of a comparison because everyone starts to know the other guy so well it's not a valid comparison and even bad players can mess with good ones once they get so used to them.

It would be a great idea to do this maybe with San Diego since the proximity isn't so far. Just an idea.

We've done it with San Diego, in the past...Don't know why we don't do it now.

I think Green did try to. He wanted a week of practice in SD, but the logistics wouldnt work or something like that.

Also, remember that some of the Viking's staff have played for Green, so they know what his defense will look like and how to stop it, as well as what his offense will look like and how to stop it. Throw in the fact that ALL of our guys are playing in these schemes for the first time, I'm not surprised of the outcome.

The key will be who steps up in the next three weeks, and those "stepper-uppers" will be our team, and Denny will build schemes around what they can do. I expect a lot of the starters from this game to not be starting next week.

I agree with Conrad-Dobbler on the scrimmage aspect. You have to believe that scrimmaging against the Cheifs was like a first pre-season game. The intensity was higher than if you were hitting your own guys all day for two weeks. The Vikes played like they already had a game under thier belt, and the cards played like a team who had not. Plus, the Vikes had a little payback on their minds from last year. The cards must have known this, and they did not rise the occasion what so ever. The offensive and defensive schemes were very vanilla, while the vikes were bringing the house at times. I'm still concerned bigtime with both the OL and DL. And one more thing, NO MORE GAMES IN THE METRODOME, WE SEEM TO GET EVERYONE HURT.

Very true,

I am not all that doom and gloom. Green is a massive upgrade over our previous staffs but it won't show at first because he is still sorting out players and they are getting used to his system.

I think at this point you can kiss the playoffs goodbye at least this year but stranger things have happend. We'd need Boldin back when we are close to 500 to have a chance. A lot of things would have to fall into place and really I am looking for a time when it isn't so much a fluke we win but expected.

Your point has definite merit. In 1993 the Cards had a good preseason (3-1) and scored over 320 points in the regular season. That total has been exceeded only twice since the Cards moved to AZ.

The scrimmaged the Broncos in Greely Co. that year.
