To think it's all the front office for being stingy is also pure speculation. The only thing we know for sure is that Dansby fired his agent. If the scuttlebutt about the Cards and his agent being close to an agreement are correct, one can only summize that Dansby wasn't in agreement with his agent, so he fired him. We don't know if that was because he didn't like the dollar amount of the contract or he believed his agent wasn't working fast enough or any of a number of other reasons. It is all just speculation.

We do know that this FO got us to the SB this year, so I tend to give them a little leeway. Why don't we wait until all the facts are known before we jump to any conclusions?

Haven't we given him $18 mil the last 2 seasons? That $$$ could have been part or most of his signing bonus. You don't think if we would have offered him 2 seasons ago 4 years and $30 with a 18 mil up front he wouldn't have taken it. We didn't and like I said the price goes up every week and every year. The FO is more to blame than #58 or his agent.

Here we go again. Around and around with our never-changing biases. If he's here in 2010, good. If he's not, good. I'll cheer for his replacement. Bring on the draft. T-19 and counting down.

If Pace can Karlos will. Didn't you guys say that when Pace was a free agent? Watch!!!

Dansby is being arrogant if 22-24M in guaranteed money and 12M the first year doesn't satisfy him.:doi: Hasta luego Hombre. Inside backers are pretty replaceable for the most part.

Really? Whens the last one the Cards have had that could actually play besides Dansby and Hayes? Only 2 names come to mind since 1988, Eric Hill and Ron McKinnon.

They were 4-3 backers. We're moving to a 3-4 with two inside backers. Not the same. He's easier to replace. And Hayes would be the better 4-3 inside backer anyway.

All of the blame isn't on Karlos and his agent. Rod Graves deserves criticism for this situation even getting to this point. Graves has talked a big game for 2 years now about getting Dansby a deal. Not many players in the league are worth what they are paid, but our best defensive player deserves a big payday. Dansby has been the best LB'er the Cards have had since the days of Ken Harvey and Eric Hill and we all know they finished their careers wearing other teams colors. Be careful what you wish for because it's hard to replace something you don't have a proven replacement for!!!

Really ?

What was Dansby asking for ?

No. We haven't given him anything for this season yet. That's why everyone is trying to get a deal done. Besides, we weren't sure if he was worth that kind of money last season due to his injuries and the problems he had with the Green Adminstration.

Maybe the Cards will have to pay a little extra to get this deal done now, but that is better than giving him a boat load of money last year and then discovering he didn't deserve it. Now that he's shown he can be an impact player full time, make the deal if it's reasonable.

I like Dansby, but if we are going to operate like the most successful NFL franchises, we need to start realizing that no player is invaluable. The team comes first, always.

Buckybird, I rip on the FO and graves all the time so I won't do it again here. Dansby is not in the class that woodley and harrison are in pittsburgh, and there is Patrick willis in SFand ErnieSims in Detroit just off the top of my head that are all better than Dansby. I don't think he deserves the $$$ he gets now,as it is.

Wrong Gap Ronnie? One of many reasons the Cards D ranked in the bottom 10 almost every year in either points allowed or yards allowed. Even if RM were still in his prime he wouldn't make the current roster.

just because he fired his agent doesn't mean a deal won't get done. I think Graves problem is that he seem to be afraid to get locked into long term contracts until it's too late and the player holds are the leverage. Intsead of syaing he wants to keep the core players together, he needs to get these guys into long term deals prior to their FA year. It takes two to tango but Graves is not a fast mover. The closer the player gets to free agency, the less likely he signs.
