Sounds like a final run at Carson Palmer to get him to take a pay cut. If he doesn't, it all could happen today. Palmer out, Flynn in in OAK

I guess my idea is not seeming so far fetched now.

I like Palmer. He is better than any qb we have had since Warner left. He is 33 years old, could start for 3 to 4 years. Hope the Cards make a serious run for him. They have the money.

Palmer is content being a backup. Remember the Marc Bulger stuff a few years back? He is shot QB.

why exactly would buffalo move up 1 spot? if the cards sign palmer it's not like you're going QB and if you were going QB you wouldn't trade with a team that was going QB

so it would have to be a situation where a team was looking to trade with you to jump buffalo - in which case it would leave buffalo to have to offer something better or simply work out a deal with detroit to jump the jumper

however, such thoughts make the offseason fun

like the months long question about what kind of value flynn would pull and if it makes sense to move him ...... it's looking like that could happen, although as mentioned oakland may just be trying to leverage palmer - i'm not sure why though, because he pretty much stinks and would be fine to take a beating for an extra year while you get your young guy up to speed

Word from MJ yesterday was just this---he wants to go to a contender, even if it means being the backup initially. His likely landing spot? Seattle.

The Seahawks and Raiders have in fact agreed to draft-pick compensation on a tentative trade to send Matt Flynn to Oakland. Deal's close.

I think Bidwill, BA & Keim could sell him on coming to the Cards. Fitz could also help make it happen.

Because if they think we are going to take him.

You are right, that has never happen, let alone to the Cardinals.

He prefers the West coast---so that's a plus. But that's why he apparently likes the thought of playing for the Seahawks, even if it means backing up RW. The Seahawks have 2 more years before they have to pay RW starters money---the timeline for Palmer being in the mix is therefore perfect.

MJ also said yesterday that while the Cardinals have never said no when he has asked about Palmer, he was told that they have not done a full evaluation of him---thus, if that's the case they have to get right to work on it.

with plummer there wasn't a person alive that thought the cards actually wanted leaf - it wasn't to stop the cards from picking - it was to stop someone else from trading with the cardinals and snagging leaf from them

indy wasn't going to trade out of 1, so the #2 spot the cards held was the ony place for them to move to ensure they got their guy (a guy who had a lot better "grade" for what that is worth than anyone in this draft)

it's like the rams trading with washington so they could snag RG3 - that pick was in play, not because the rams needed a QB, but because other teams did and that was the only safe

teams that try to bluff another team into trading with them so they don't take a guy that another team wants usually have to select the guy and work out a deal for their draft rights (see eli manning)

in this years draft there are 6 spots ahead of the cardinals that a team could trade into ..... it would have to be something completely wild for buffalo to feel the need to move up one spot and to have the cards retain max leverage

it's much more realistic a team would be looking to trade with AZ to jump buffalo

I don't think he'd be a fit in seattle with what they are trying to do on offense ... unless he signed a super cheap deal I don't think it would have much value either

While I think Palmer is done - I also think he could upgrade the QB situation here and provide a development bridge ...... he's also a guy who likes to air it out and be big near the pocket, which seems to fit with what Arians likes to do

I think AZ would probably be the best situation for him and give him the best environment for success .... i think the coaching & receivers could elevate him a little here

Good logic here Osprey, the Seattle offense doesn't fit to Palmer's strengths and if Wilson got injured Palmer would have trouble running the Seahag offense because it requires a mobile QB which Palmer is not.

Bologna. What is a contender? What worth is a backup qb sb ring? Az is a very logical spot along w a few other teams with few missing pieces.

Ill be shocked and eat crow if he actually goes somewhere as a pure backup
