COLUMBIA — South Carolina men's basketball failed to make the 2025 NCAA tournament and ended its season with a loss to Arkansas on March 12 in the SEC tournament.
Coach Lamont Paris finished his third season with the Gamecocks with a 12-20 record, finishing last in the SEC with only two conference wins.
It was a harsh turnaround from the 2024 season, where South Carolina had a program record-tying 26 wins and made it to the NCAA tournament before losing in the first round.
Last offseason, Paris had success in the transfer portal and now, as the portal opened Monday, Paris will look to build his roster for 2025-26. The portal is open until April 22 for transfers but any player whose coach leaves the school gets an additional 30 days to enter the portal. That starts the day after the coach's departure. There is no deadline for portal players to commit to a new program.
South Carolina will be without Jacobi Wright and Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk next season as they're both out of eligibility. Myles Stute may receive a medical redshirt year after missing the majority of the season. He was diagnosed with left lower leg deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) in early January.
Star sophomore Collin Murray-Boyles has yet to announce if he is declaring for the NBA draft.
Here's who is joining and leaving South Carolina this season.
Austin Herro, G: Herro, a freshman and the younger brother of NBA star Tyler Herro, was the first player to announce he was entering the portal. He started his career as a preferred walk-on then earned a scholarship this season. The 6-foot-3 guard played in nine games, averaging .2 points and 1.4 minutes per game.
Destination: TBD
Zachary Davis, G: Davis confirmed via social media days before the portal opened that he will enter and leave South Carolina. The 6-foot-7 junior guard averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. He started 19 of 32 total games, averaging 26.3 minutes.
Destination: TBD
Arden Conyers, F: On3 reported that Conyers entered the portal on Tuesday. The 6-foot-7 small forward/guard averaged 4.3 points as a redshirt freshman. He played in 23 games but didn't start in any, averaging 13.6 minutes. He's from Columbia and played at Westwood High School in Blythewood.
Destination: TBD
Nick Pringle, F: Pringle was one of Paris' biggest portal gains last summer, picking up the skilled forward from Alabama. The 6-foot-10 forward had the option to declare for the NBA draft, stay at South Carolina or enter the portal. On Tuesday, it was reported he was back in the portal. Pringle started his career at Wofford then went to Alabama for two seasons. Pringle started all 32 games and averaged 9.5 points and 6.3 rebounds.
Destination: TBD
