Chris Crutchfield, Omaha head coach

Crutchfield is fresh off the heels of leading the Mavericks to its first NCAA Tournament appearance. He has over 20 years of coaching experience, including stops at Oregon and Oklahoma.

He joined Omaha in 2022 after a 20-15 season with Oregon as an assistant coach. Before Oregon, Crutchfield spent the 2020-21 season as the head coach at East Central in Ada, Oklahoma.

Before ECU, Crutchfield served as the associate head coach with the Arkansas Razorbacks, where he helped sign a top-five recruiting class in the nation. Crutchfield spent eight seasons under Lon Kruger at Oklahoma, where he served as an associate head coach. During his eight years with the Sooners, Crutchfield played a crucial role in recruiting and developing current Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young – the first five-star recruit of Kruger's tenure at OU – and Golden State Warriors shooting guard Buddy Hield.

While at Oklahoma, the Sooners earned six NCAA Tournament berths including a trip to the Final Four in 2016.

Before his move to Oklahoma, Crutchfield was an assistant coach at Oral Roberts from 2007-11, TCU from 2005-07, and New Mexico State from 2001-05.

Rob Klinkefus, South Dakota State associate head coach

Klinkefus has been a part of the Jackrabbit men’s basketball coaching staff for 19 seasons. The 2024-25 season was his sixth as associate head coach.

The long-time Jackrabbit coach is the eighth most tenured assistant on any staff across the country. He's been part of nine Summit League regular season titles and seven conference tournament championship teams.

Kyle Lindsted, University of Minnesota assistant coach

Lindsted has served as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota since May 2018.

In his first two seasons with the Gophers, Lindsted played an integral role in the team’s recruiting as well as on-court success. During his first year, he helped lead the Maroon and Gold to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating No. 7-seed Louisville in the opening game, the first NCAA win by a Minnesota team since 2013.

His familiarity with the area would make him a great candidate for South Dakota State.

Lindsted arrived at the University of Minnesota after spending the prior three seasons in the same role at Wichita State.

Bryan Petersen, South Dakota State assistant coach

Petersen is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with Jackrabbit basketball, joining Eric Henderson's staff in June of 2019.

South Dakota State has won at least a share of the Summit League regular season title in four seasons, along with claiming two conference tournament championships en route to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. Petersen has been influential in the development of several recent standout guards, including Zeke Mayo and Charlie Easley.

The assistant coach has been one of the masterminds of South Dakota State's defensive game plans. In 2024, the Jackrabbits led the Summit League in overall defensive field goal percentage and were second in scoring defense during the conference schedule.

Before joining South Dakota State, Petersen spent six seasons as head coach of the Kirkwood Community College men's basketball program. He led the program to the 2016 and 2019 NJCAA Division II Championships while amassing a 157-38 overall record. He earned regional and national coach of the year honors in both national championship seasons.

Petersen was an assistant at Kirkwood in 2012-13, after spending three seasons at Iowa State. He worked for Greg McDermott in 2009-10 and spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for Fred Hoiberg.

Paul Sather, University of North Dakota head coach

Sather was hired by North Dakota in May of 2019 following a successful stint at Northern State, where he won back-to-back conference coach of the year awards by leading the Wolves to the NCAA Division II championship game.

He has established himself with over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 20 at South Dakota schools. Sather has built a pair of national-contending basketball teams at his two head coaching stops.

Before that, he was a six-year assistant at NSU, his alma mater, under legendary head coach Don Meyer before later embarking on his head coaching career.
