My kids loved the movie. I thought it was OK. Just popcorn fun. Not a great film by any stretch but not bad either. Just entertaining. I wish they had been a little less corny with a couple of the characters but that is only a minor complaint. I also liked the setup of more story with the character Racer X.

However, do to the box office being so poor (fell about 28 million short of budget) and with DVD sales only making up about 8 Million so far it appears this simply will not make back it's budget. I seriously doubt we ever get a sequel.

I will say, if you want to show off your home theater and blu-ray player, this is the ultimate movie to do that.

This film's success was not just about box office and DVD revenue. If marketeers believe there is a possible ongoing market for SR merchandise & toys don't be surprised to see a straight to video movie in the future. Odds are slim though IMO, the brand will probably just die out.

straight to video doesn't mean anything to me as far as a "sequel" goes considering none of the same people will be involved and America Pie is on it's 217th straight to video sequel.

What about a remake?

you can never say never but it will be at least a decade (and probably longer if ever) before the stench wears off this turkey. add in to the fact that we're not talking about an adaptation of what was a widely beloved cartoon by a mass audience like the Hulk was and you have a bad movie of a cult series that was pretty expensive and bombed. Things like that don't get a second chance whereas something like the Hulk did because it was a) one of the most beloved characters in comic history and b) the comic book genre is pretty much the surest thing going these days.
