I'm pumped for this movie now...watched Ebert and Roper last night, both of them were gushing about this movie...Ebert gave the first one thumbs down, but this one he said was better than the first, and even better than ANY of the Batman's, and maybe better than the original Superman.

Can't wait to see this one...

If it's anything like the last movie, I'll give it the same 'eh, nothing special' reaction. I mean, the graphics are terrible (not quite as bad as in the Hulk, though), the script spectacularly so-so, and nothing about the movie stood out as particularly good. Kirsten Dunst hasn't impressed me in the least, and though I like Toby, and though supposedly he plays Spidey the way he was in the comics, it was just a 'blah' role.

Sidenote: The graphics are wonderful graphics...just not the right kind of ones to use for the movie. Just as in Daredevil, Spiderman's graphics looked cheesy and overdone. If they took more of an X-men approach, they'd be better served.

I've heard this complaint a lot from movie-goers. I, for one, liked the effects. Were they dead-on for realism? Nope, not even close. But, the wide shots of Spidey swinging and leaping were a great blend of realism and comic-book art that was appropriate for the film, IMO.

The Hulk CGI was just bad for the film, though; I agree. It was distracting. It felt like I was watching Shrek on a 'roid rage.

you are aware that all of these are based off of comic books, right? placing a comic book hero in reality is one thing, but trying to add too much realism is just that. Let it be a comic. Let it be a little "less realistic" and more cartoony.

Everyone seems to want every movie to be Independance Day now, instead of allowing for artistic difference. open up to the idea that movies are fiction, and that the reason you go to them isn't for the reality of it, but the fantasy.
