Wasn't his predominant pose looking up high into the air after he swung to see how many feet over home plate his popup traveled? :)

Gizmo! My cousin calls him that because he thinks Parra looks like Gizmo from the Gremlins movies.

Finally going into the season as a projected everyday player, and well deserved. The yearly effort to bring in new guys to take his job has been confusing.

Despite his arm, hustle and versatility, the fact is that Parra is a light hitting corner outfielder and a fair fielding center fielder, and not a strong candidate for any position in the batting order.

In basketball, he'd be called a tweener. I love to have him on the team but would rather not see him tie up a starting spot as jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none. He really is the ideal 4th outfielder.

Well, he is a masterful fielder from either corner position and has one of the best arms in the league, so he is certainly a master in the field. What bothered me most about the yearly effort to replace him was that it consisted of replacing him with guys who were, at best, marginal upgrades at the dish while being enormous downgrades in the field... and at 10 fold the price of Gizmo.

My only real complaint about Parra is his base stealing. A bad instinctual base stealer that had a green light for far too long.
