Really a great independent film with a very good cast.

This movie delves into the world of Methamphetamine junkies and I must say that they do a really good job portraying the part on almost all accounts. I have dealt with many of them personally on hundreds of occasions.

It has Brittany Murphy, Mena Suvari, John Leguizamo, and Mickey Rourke. All of which do superb acting jobs in the roles that they play!

If you havent seen it check it out you will only find it in the video store. It is very explicit though!

I rented this with my roomie a few months ago.

After watching it I was like "WTF just happened?" I loved the camera work and fast paced action of the movie, though.

The Brittany Murphy was awesome in this role and the other actors did great as well.

It's a very intense, fast paced movie that I wouldn't mind watching again.

This movie was nauseating - and never call a film with Jason Schwartzman, Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Patrick Fugit and whoever else wanted to slum it in this piece of drek an independent film - it's an insult to independent filmmakers who can't make movies with stars and financing in place while directed by critically acclaimed music video directors.

Independent film barely even exists today and the term is used waaayyyy too losely - I will get off my soapbox now.

Spun was great, until you see the damage meth does, you cannot apprieciate this movie. Spun was a really good movie, I think the Meth problem is greatly ignored and I'm glad it was covered in a movie. I like how the media made a great deal out of the crack cocaine problem in the 80's in mostly black neighborhoods and completely ignores the meth problems that has exploded all over.
But to get backon the subject, what an original movie

Sorry, if I want to see an indie film about drug abuse, I'll pop in Requiem For A Dream.

The problem I see is that independent film is now simply a cliche. And that's a shame. Seems to me that indie film today is pretty much either about drug abuse or rough sex. That's it. I guess we can thank Requiem, Trainspotting and Kids for that.

I'm not saying I'll never see it, I just probably won't go out of my way to see it. But if there's a chance to, then I will.

I've known many tweakers, so I'll tell you (Shane) if I think it's realistic once I see it.

It's a sickening drug, I've literally known 30 or so people that haven't damaged or destroyed their lives on that filth.

Trust me bro I have dealt with 100s 0f them working street patrol. This movie is very realistic. Outlandish in some parts but mostly hits it right on the head!

Then I will have to see it.

All of my former (emphasis on former :D ) friends in high school are now hooked on crank.

I've been around it quite a lot, and I have especially strong opinions on it, probably not much different than your own.

I liked it. It was an in your face romp, but I dont think it had any profound impact on me. I got a kick more out of watching filmic style and character portrayal. I guess thats important, cause the storyline is pretty friggin unimportant.

In the end, I didnt really care too much about what happened to any of them. So, while Id recommmend this film as Murphy was excellent and Schwartzman was good, (Hell even Leguizamo was entertaining) I wouldnt put it high on the list. Heh. Nice pun. High on the list.

And I usually LOVE this kind of film. I would definitely say that Requiem for a Dream made this movie look like childs play in terms of identifying with the characters, and really feeling for them as vicitms of drug abuse. In Spun, it was fun and laughable at times. In Reqiuem it was bleak and scary and hellish. And thats how one should feel when watching a film about speed freaks.

Finally saw it Shane...

I liked it. And the scary thing is that I've known people that are like this character. I have some general critcisms of it, but overall it can be scary accurate at time.

One thing that is totally true, is that tweekers are total nymphomaniacs. The characters buying porn, having sex, talking about sex constantly was very accurate.

Meth addiction is one of the more prevalent drug addictions now. It's a terrible drug that destroys the lives of people who are around it.
