Spurs in 6, I have a bad feeling Amare is going to get the short end of the calls, refs will have him playing less than 30 mins.

honestly, this entire series is a measuring stick for where Amare is and what kind of player he ultimately can be. He's looking for more endorsements? This is where you make them. By leading your team over your dreaded foe, but that means playing good defense, rebounding, not getting in stupid foul trouble and not bitching to the media. Are you soft or not Amare? This is the series that shows if you've matured into a great player or if you're just the PF cersion of Dominique Wilkins.

who remembers that block amare did on duncan a few years back during playoffs.. blocked a dunk and duncan was crying for goal tending.. it was epic..

and we got our asses kicked in 5 games. IMO "epic" happens in series you win, not series where you get your ass handed to you.

that being said, it was a great play and the kind of defense intensity Amare's got to bring every minute of every game.

Amare will still score 20 plus and grab 10 in his 30 mins, he always steps it up in the playoffs, Nash will step it up as will Shaq but I think Barbosa and Diaw have to play lights out, that is where my main area of doubt is.

Well, if we gotta battle the Spurs, might as well do it right off the bat. They are recovering from injuries and have not been playing very well the last couple of weeks (Utah tank job not withstanding).

I also think of all the first round matchups in either conference, this is the marquee series for the league. I'm pretty sure that will buy us an extra day of rest and we will open up on Sunday on ABC.

We're probably going to be the afternoon Sunday game. Aren't we like 1-7 in Sunday noon games?

Remember when Amare averaged almost 40 points against the Spurs in the 2005 series? With Shaq by his side, he can replicate that number.

Well amare won't have to play much 1on1 defense in this series EXCEPT the first 6 minutes of each half, as they put him on duncan to prevent shaq from getting early fouls.

Now if he can't go 12 minutes without picking up stupid fouls (and he couldn't do it last wed) then, well he ain't made any progress in maturity in 6 years...

The Spurs are a clever team of proven champions, I would rather play LA and NO before SA. The spurs don't get scared like some of our players do, they don't mind cheating either. These guys will get Amare out of the game early with whatever it takes, flops, complaining, cheap shots, Bowen might even kick Amare's micro knee if he has a chance, this series is going to be tough, the suns can win but if barbosa and diaw pull one of their 25% acts this one is over in 6.

These intro videos from the 2005 series could almost be used as hype up videos this year.

They're been a thorn in our side for so long. If we ever win a championship, it needs to happen through them.

I wouldn't want the first round to happen any other way but Spurs/Suns.

Good luck to your team!!!

If Horry is ready, then the Spurs will be fully staffed. If he isn't, well getting Barry will make the 3's much easier to come by. Spurs ran an absolute clinic in the 1st quarter against Utah. I expect for Pop to make his team give him nothing but the best effort. As Pop always says, this game is a game of mistakes and if you can make less of them, you'll win more than you lose.

as good as Amare is now, he's still not close to the ridiculous machine he was back then. Just look at his numbers versus the Spurs since then. The only game he came close to doing that was Game 6 when he piled up a bunch of stats in garbage time after we were already down 18 in the fourth.

It comes up as the third result for Spurs suns. :)

and that's exactly what I'm afraid of. I mean the guy almost got goaded into another fight by Bowen. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what Bowen was trying to accomplish with that elbow.

Suns in 6!

We need to keep our composure as the dirtiest team will play its tricks when they know they are going to lose. We have the refs against us as well.
