Of course... most of the people that live in Phoenix are probably Lakers/Dodgers fans... since they moved from California at age 60

Actually, very few Californians moved here until a mass exodus in the early 90s brought people looking for affordable housing and a higher quality of life. Those that did move tended to be white-collar professionals with children. Like any move, it only takes a generation for their family loyalties to change.

There were many Dodgers and Giants fans here because those were the teams we were presented in broadcast and the local minor league affiliate. It was easy for many Dodgers fans to shift loyalties to the D-Backs because it occurred directly after the O'Malley's sold the Dodgers to Fox.

There have never been many Lakers fans here because the Suns have been established since 1968. We've more than tripled the metro population since then.

The vast majority of Arizona transplants come from the midwest, especially Chicago. They are typically young. Phoenix is one of the youngest metroplexes in the country. I think they currently rank No. 2 in per capita age.

That is true... but the 3 guys in it are forced to row the 5 moderators...

Spursreport is less tolerant of fans of other teams than this site... and they are even LESS tolerant of fans of their own team...

Actually that is my favorite site outside of mavs boards. There are many fans of different teams on there. This board has it's thing and it's cool. Just not a fan of banning unless they are really out of line.

the Suns aren't much better really, and the amount of complaining by the Suns in this series way outweighed the amount done by the Spurs. Still, its hard to argue about the Spurs whining, its really a well known fact that on the court, the Spurs team is a whining machine. However, you can't tell me ANY player on our roster has complained about anything OUTSIDE of the court.

I would like to extend an apology to Chandler Mike. I did over generalize when it comes to some of the posters here. I still disagree over the suspensions and other things, but I have to say Mike, you've been classy all the way even when faced with insulting posters. I admire that.

I thought they disagreed about it being a 2 game suspension when it should have been one. Either way, I didn't see them claiming for an * on the series because of it The day you tell me Pop is whining is the day I tell you, you know nothing about the man.

Fair enough. Personally, I thought the 2 game suspension was harsh. It should have been only one, but the suspensions of Amare and Diaw made the incident look more severe. Still one could argue he got a one game suspension because of the foul on Nash and another game because of his scuffle with Bell, in which case its understandable.

But man...how can people not see how pissed that whole thing would make us and at least sympathize with us a bit.

I saw that. Dude has some pent up anger doesn't he? Still, if you happen to stay over there, you'll have to learn to ignore some posters. Its just the nature of the site, a lot of great basketball discussions, and very liberal admins. Of course this means sometimes you'll get people that are less than courteous. A thick skin and some sharp comebacks and you'll be alright

Gambling with reputation rather than consequence. You get so many "dollars" when you start up, then you place your bet based on outcome. The more you win, the more you get reputation points.

Personally? I like the system at dallas-mavs.com, where reputations are built up (or destroyed) based on props you receive each post. People can give you a "check mark" for props or an "x" for a thumbs down. It's never a huge interval, so great reputations can only be built over time with a lot of people agreeing with you, and new reputations can't be destroyed by a single opposing poster. One cool addition to that might be the addition of names that come with reputations: Like "slimy mollosk" for the bad reps, "bambi" for the newbies, and a series of increases for the better reputations. Maybe the highest reputation could be "sits at the right hand of God."

were someone to judge based on this series, i would agree with you. the suns seemed to complain a lot. however, i was never a "blame the refs" girl, but this series was awful. i believe the suns had reason to complain.

that being said, i think that in the long run, it would have behooved the suns players to suck it up (on and off the court). i'd call out amare specifically, but i can't blame him for what he said; i found myself talking to complete strangers about everything related to the suns. at least he had the benefit of a captive and interested audience.

the refs, "smack", hard fouls, what have you... the suns could have won this series. no injustice (perceived or actual) was insurmountable. cumulatively, the spurs played well. we played average.

that fact gives me more than enough hope for next season. this current team, at moderate strength, is more than capable to overcome their biggest obstacle.

Actually you can gamble reputation points over there as well. But your right I like the idea of having some sort of rating system where you can rate your peers.

Disagree and agree in the same post. The refs in the game called it a Flagrant 2 foul which calls for an automatic one game suspension. He also got one game for the punch/elbow he threw at Bell.
